My SAR states that my expected family contribution should be $22,000. The university I am going to only costs about $16,500 with room, board and tuition (It's a state school). What do I do now? Does that mean that I will not receive any money in aid?

You have to wait for your award letter to come back to know for sure how this is going to affect you.

I would suggest that you start looking into private loans.
You can call local banks and ask about student loans.
You can also look into Sallie Mae.

You can also still qualify for scholarships. Your school should have their own scholarships. You can also use prevelant scholarship sites.

To get more specific info. contact the college you are planning to attend, they should have a 1-800# if you don't live close, and ask to speak to a financial aid counselor. They will be able to provide you all the info. you need.

Good Luck!

You will not receive any grant money from the government, although the school can still give you scholarship money. The family contribution is totaled using a formula that is extremely flawed and based upon endless politics. College is continuing to become unaffordable for the middle class without borrowing loads of money.
