Do earphones, like the ones in ipod, kill brain cells regardless of the volume you are listening at?

If you are listening at a low volume, does it still kill brain cells?

No. But if you put them too loud, you're bound to damage your hearing.

The sound waves generated by earphones can damage the eardrums, though usually not the brain.

I'm guessing that you've accidentally had the volume turned up way loud while listening with earphones? The sudden shock hits the eardrums, and since your brain wasn't expecting that it sends out a signal of pain, which soon goes away. This happens to me all the time. It doesn't affect your brain cells - though I can't say the same about your ears.

doesnt kill brain cells it weakens the cilia in your ear. Little hair like structures that can break off and reduce your hearing. but the sound has to be very loud and repeated over awhile.

No, just be careful not to damage your ear drum by excess volume.
