I own a 2000 Ford Mustang. The engine is all stock. I would like some input in what I need to put into this car in detail to make it the baddest car in my town. Fastest off the start and as much horse as I can put into this stock engine. When its all said and done, I do not want to go over $5,000-$6,000. Am I better off in modifying this engine or do I need to look into a bigger, rebuilt engine to get what I am looking for? Please give me answers in detail in what I need and where I can find it for the best $.

If you want the baddest stang in town for 5-6K you'd better live in a real small town. No matter what you do, there is always someone faster. Rousch makes a supercharger, and NOS will boost the power. When you get all this power, better start thinking about getting it to the ground. So now you'd best beef up the rest of the drive line, then let's get to the brakes to stop this thing.

You can start with a crate engine, make sure the lower end can support all the horses. Use a forged crank, hipo rods and pistons. Like anything you have to start with a good foundation and build on top of it. Good luck

First, you didn't specify if it has a V6 or a V8. The performance options are about the same for either engine, but the V8 will have more power to start, and exponentially so with modifications. The best bang for your buck is going to be a supercharger, or "blower" setup. These run around $2500 give or take $500 or so.

A blower has the added appeal of being available at lower RPM as it does not rely on the exhaust gases of the vehicle to spin, or 'spool' it up.

your way better off modifying the engine, the best hp gain youll git is from twin turbos. probally around 5,400$ but its garunted to over double the hp..... i had a vw fox it was slow as hell then i ended up putin some twin turbos on it (my engine was 112 ci) with 81 hp. then after the turbo upgrade it had 323 hp. it out ran a 1973 mustang mach 1 it had a 351ci. so idd say the best upgrade is the twin turbos its costly but diffently worth it. you will also have the awesome whistle of a turbo.

Powerdyne centrifugal supercharger and an intercooler.
Then get a Borla exhaust system with headers.
Lastly, work on the suspension so you can transfer the power to the ground.

Which engine? If you want the "baddest car" I hope your starting with a Cobra! Otherwise turbo rice cars are going to blow your doors off !
