I love rice, all kinds, especially wild rice with mushrooms. Yum. But most of my family doesn't like much of it, and I end up eating theirs. I even like plain white rice with just some soy sauce.

I think a lot of cacausin Americans don't like rice because they think of it as "filler" and that it's just there to distract you from the real meal: meat.

I'm North American and really like the taste of all kinds of rice. I don't have it all the time but like to eat it at least three or four times a week (sometimes more). It is probably because we were usually brought up eating meat & potatoes. That just seems like the normal everyday kind of thing to eat for alot of us. Rice is something I probably eat more often than potatoes & that just might be because I am too lazy to peel &/or slice the potatoes.

Rice is a part of many other countries diets not because of the taste but the cost. Its a cheap food that seems to feed a lot of people at once. America has always been more a meat and potatoe sort of place. But not all americans should be grouped together. My house eats tons of rice. its healthy, its chieap and you can use it with many dishes.

I think we just weren't brought up on rice as a culture like you were. Potatoes are big here and everyone loves pastas. Rice is good too, but perhaps not as versatile as some other things. I happen to like rice and cook it often, but then I'm particularly fond of stir fries so there ya go! I'm sure more people eat rice than you might realize.

I love the taste of rice, or better yet, the flavors it can take on. Americans are semolina happy. Plus, the perception on rice, especially brown, is that it might actually be a better health option for you. Have you seen how fat we are in america?

Because most of us were brought up on potatoes. I normally eat 5 pounds a week myself. But I also stay active so they don't settle on my backside as well. Rice to me is boring. I like it when I broil scallops wrapped in bacon then eat it that way though. But wildrice with a little chicken broth is best with it.

Diffrent parts of our country have diffrent eating habits, as well as the ethnic makeup of the region.

South Carolina is huge on rice. Idaho- potatoes. The southwest eats beans. the midwest is corn. Almost all our starches are processed.
