When I ran track I got that a lot in the beginning. It usually goes away after a week or two of running. I took a short rest when my muscles burned. Usually 5-10 minutes gets you back up and going.

Muscle cramps are due to a build up of lactic acid as a result of your body not getting enough oxygen for cellular respiration. Make sure you are drinking water, eating a balanced diet and have sufficient electrolytes. Hope you feel better.

I'm a nurse and these are muscle spasms. Try the OTC heat, or icy hot pads or something like that, generic will work too. You could also take ibuprofen for your discomfort. A ace bandage will also help you. Take care

You can start by drinking more water, and that pain is lactic acid in your muscles.
