I was raised to wait in the car until my dad or brother opened my door. Is this way old fashioned? Tonight I went out with a guy and I was just sitting in the car waiting for him to open my door ... and he yells "Are your gonna get out of the car?!" I felt like a total dork!

lmao srry for laughing, but this was funny! Hun there's nothing wrong with the way you were brought up. I think it's so cute the way waited for the guy to open the car door for you.
Fewer and fewer people do this nowadays, especially when it comes to car doors. You shouldn't take it personally.
I love my girlfriend very much. Now that I think of it, I don't remember opening the car door for her ... ever. Don't get me wrong, I would definitely open it for her, but she is usually the first one to open her door when I park or she opens just as I open my door. To be honest though, it isn't something that is on my mind ... I wasn't brought up that way.
Chivalry is not dead though. I love my girl. She's my baby, and I take care of my baby so much. It's raining and there's one umbrella? She's getting the umbrella. Really Cold Out? You better believe my baby is getting my coat. She falls and hurts herself? She's getting kissed on the very spot she hurt. Parked at the mall really far? I'm won't make her walk in the cold. I get my car and pick her up at the entrance.
See? It's not all just about car doors. It's just the way people are brought up. Lol you waiting inside the car waiting for him to open the door is cute. Good Luck with everything.

That does seem a little old fashioned to me. Personally, I will occassionally open the door for a girl, but I do it rarely. If I were with someone and they just stayed in the car and waited to have the door opened, I'd probably say the same thing he said!

It is old fashioned, and nowadays you will be lucky to find anyone with old fashioned manners anywhere, but we are out there. I was raised that way. I open the doors for everyone, and I say excuse me and please and thank you.... I don't think it is old fashioned, I think it is what makes me and others like me better than all the rif raff that is out there. And yes I AM challenging everyone else out there to start proving that they are even half as good as I am. Show your manners or prove you are just another loser. The modern age needs to prove it is as good as the previous ages, and it has nothing to do with technology.

Not every guy was reared with that expectation, so they won't all instinctively open doors. That doesn't mean they are a bad or uncaring person. However, any guy who yells "aren't you going to get out of the car" and makes you feel small, isn't worth a second date.

I'm not a guy but I'll still answer. My boyfriend, my dad and my brother all open the door for me. It's just a common courtesy. It's not like I can't do it myself, it's just that they were all raised to be gentlemen. They even hold the doors for strangers.

I totally was raised the same way. lol. And so yah. I don't wait, I kinda like check to see if he is really going to, and if it's not apparant then I act like I was fooling with something like lipstick in my purse etc. You know? I guess.....he wasn't raised that way. Maybe when you get to know him better, you could ask him to do that for you. I did before when he never walked me to my door, so I asked him to. Sometimes it takes a little effort these days, lol. Way to go though on the raising thing. I thought I was the only one. lol.

Well I don't drive in China but everytime we take a taxi I open the door for her and when it is time to get off, of course I open hen the for me and then help her get down.
That's a normal thing to do. But not only for my girlfriend.

hahahah, well my bf used to open the car door for me everytime we went sumwhere, he also walked me to my door when he dropped me off at home, now we've been together for a yr and a half and he doesnt do it anymore!!! it sucks because im old fashioned too.
