I don't agree on whale hunting due to the fact that these animals are already endangered..if this will continue then probably it will lead them to the so called keystone specie wherein the loss of any individual specie would adversely affect the entire ecosystem...and taken into consideration also the principle of ecology, that is everything is connected to everything else,, each individual has its own vital role of the environment and any changes would affect all...

Personally, I don't have a problem with regulated whaling. A whale is an animal, and animals are killed for food.
Including Japan, 9 countries plus a handful of Caribbean Islands all actively participate in whaling, including the United States (Canada, Caribbean, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Indonesia, Japan, Norway, Russia, and the United States ). In many of these countries, the hunting is done by indiginous people.
The only problem I have with Japan killing whales is that they do it in the name of "science" yet kill enough to supply meat to their country. If they want to eat whale, just say so and accept the consequences.
As with many other animals, the hunting of whales is a sustainable food source for people, except when places like Japan mess it up for everyone.

you right, you know? i found it in a sushi bar last month!
and yesterday i found it again in a supermarket near my apt. it is packed in a can clearly said that the whale meat came from the japanese Scientific Studies team!
wondering what type of scientific studies is that! study its taste?
