I'm a nurse and yes it can spread and is very contagious. If the doctor gave that for you to use and the ringworm is spreading even further, the medication isn't effective go back for something else. Did the doctor give you like compazine for the itching, if not ask for it. Take care and I hope it gets better soon.

Yes it can spread to other parts of the body like the face and arm.
Yes it will diminish overtime, it wont disappear overnight.
Other medicine apart from cream are tablets i.e. griseofulvin and whitfield lotion or whitfield cream. These are prescribed medicine. Whitfield lotion is fast to act but is irritating upon application so not recommended for the face.

Yes, you have to keep it very clean but not scratch and wash your hands or dissinfect if you touch it. It should disappear completely I had 2 I think, one on my hand and one on my knee and they went away fast. I did everything under the book, neosporin, doctors medicine, aloe vera cooked and skined on it. You should be ok, don't worry to much and try to ignore it.

speaking from experience i was told by my doctor that it cannot spread to another part of your body unless you scratch it and scratch somewhere else. not sure about the other part ofthe question. So keep putting your medicine on it and cover it but also let air get to it. it helps dry it up. AND DONT SCRATCH IT!!

I know it can spread. I dont know much about clotrimazole, but If you purchase an over the counter athletes foot cream that contains tolnaftate, it will do the trick.
