it says italiana republica it says 1983 in small letters and it says L. 500. i found it at bestbuy on the floor. there is also a man on or near a big statue like thing.

It's a rather common coin (issued 138 millions of pieces in 1983).- Its value depend on how is preserved but it goes from a minimum of € 1 (1,30 US$) till a maximum , for perfect never used coins, of € 6 (abt, 8 US$) each.

Right now it's worthless.
The lira is no longer in the market, as it was replaced with the Euro few years back.
Perhaps it may be worth something several years down the road, like in 2083........but none of us will be around then....
