My dr found out recently after some blood work that my porassium is really low, so she prescribed me a 7 day dose of potassium w/chloride, i take them in the morning, im on my 3rd day now, and tonight is my friends birthday. And the pharmacist or my doctor didnt specify if drinking was bad or not. Either for my deficiency or my prescription. I dont want to get rip roaring drunk, just be able to have a few drinks. . .. what do you think? Is there anyone out there that has had a few drinks with low potassium or while taking these pills? Thanks

A few drinks will be fine. Just take it easy and you'll be OK.

you have to communicate with your doctor, if you drink alcohol daily and how much you drink. If you drink daily and more than 5-6 drinks you could be at risk of many different things besides low potassium.
If you do drink make sure you drink plenty of non-alcoholic beverages and eating a meal before and after you drink. Alcohol depletes body fluids. I also suggest taking multi-vitamins daily, bananas(loaded w/ potassum).
take a look at your consumption of alcohol, give yourself an honest quick assessment, see if you have a problem or do you really need to drink to have fun?

I think you should not drink on it because low potassium intake which seem low on already. Drinking alcohol has another name ethanol. I did fast research on Ethanol and potassium.
"animals fed ethanol shows a marked depletion of potassium"(www.kfshrc.edu.sa/annals/186/98-069.html)I Your body needs potassium I would Hold off until the 7 day are done!

Two or three, probably fine, but remember that alcohol depletes potassium, which may be how you ended up that way to begin with. Check with your provider if you're unsure though.

alcohol dehydrates you......which can screw up electrolyte levels that are on the edge (like yours).

Why do you HAVE to drink anyway?
