I "served" 18 years in retail, and that industry is full of openly gay individuals. I assume that homosexuals being able to express themselves openly while in our military would be only the beginning of their demands.
Once they gain the right to come out into the open, they will demand other rights like military housing, (Living together), being able to hold hands and or kiss in public while walking on base. Say, "like the heterosexual couples do when ships pull in and out of port."
I can see it now. Military photographers being sued because they aren't giving equal camera/press time to Bill and Joe who were also crying rivers and holding one another, kissing madly as the USS Cromelin was moments away from deployment.
For goodness sake, imagine Bill or Bob winning the traditional "First Kiss" when the ship pulls back into port after a 6 month deployment? What on earth would everyone do then? That "kiss" is usually featured on the front page of every local paper.
What do you see?

Ultimately I believe it will make our military look like a mockery to other nations, especially those nations who already call us INFIDELS!
I am sorry I can't think of more positives, if any, but it really does not seem to be in the best interest of our military, (Our tax dollars), to allow homosexuals to OPENLY EXPRESS their HOMOSEXUALITY WHILE WEARING OUR UNIFORMS.

Coragryph: Good points. Some would argue however, that the difference lies merely between moral and immoral. Though I would never condone hate or violence of any kind from either side.
The irony is, I suppose, if it boils down to two people and heavy enemy fire... it won't matter what either person's sexual orientation is so long as they can manage, together to stay alive. The problem is, "What to do before and after that? How can everyone reasonably get along?"

Austingirl: You missed the point of my hypothetical situation. I can assure you that if only heterosexuals were photographed when ships came and went and only heterosexuals were interviewed for Primetime about the trials and tribulations of long deployments, homosexuals would eventually cry, "Foul!" and demand to be given equal press.

Twinmomm: I hear you. I really hate that people assume I hate just because I don't agree that homosexuality is condoned by God. It doesn't matter if a person has a tendancy toward stealing or beating his wife. Those acts are sins regardless of the 'uncontrolable urge' that may or may not exist to do those things. Likewise, I view any tendancy toward homosexuality the same way. Just because someone has an uncontrolable urge for it doesn't mean it is no longer a sin or immoral in the eyes of God. Regardless of any urge, one still has a choice to act upon it or not, to steal, beat a person or enter into a homosexual relation(ship).
That being said, I wrestle with my own sin nature and I certainly don't declare perfection by any means. This is how I was able to "survive retail for 18 years," Because I love the sinner (Which we all are) while I choose to not like the sin (No matter what that sin might be).

Just because society thinks that it is ok...doesn't make it right.
I hate the fact that Liberals try and try and try to push their views down our throats. But Heaven forbid that we actually disagree with them...here comes the name calling from them.
I agree with you. But wait...all the Libs will call me a hater and homophobic. Well let me add to this....I do believe that being gay is a sin against God.

I have always felt that everybody could live their lives as they pleased, as long as it didn't hurt anyone else, who was I to judge?. Gays included. But, I had never seen them in action. When the TV show "Brothers and Sisters" first came on this year, I liked the show, wouldn't miss it. Then came the episode where the homosexual brother had an affair. When they kissed, I felt offended, like I was watching a freak show. It was so uncomfortable to me that I turned it off. The next week, same thing. I turned it off and haven't gone back. I won't. Several shows are injecting the gay element into their story lines. I have stopped watching them also. As long as they were in the closet, and I did not have to acknowledge what they were doing, I really didn't care. However, when I see it right in front of me it makes me feel like I am watching something that is morally wrong and unnatural. I don't want it in my presence.
Most heterosexual men do not like gays, and have little or no tolerance for them. In the military, you can not choose who bunks next to you. It would be in their face. I can see men already in a vulnerable position, made frustrated and angry. I can't see real friendships being developed. Not the kind where you cover your buddy's back, come hell or high water. It would just place more stress on men who are fighting for their lives as well as ours.
You are right about the demands, they would make them, and as usual, they would be met. What is right, and what is normal, is losing it's ground in America. We can thank our politically correct leaders and the ACLU for taking us in that direction, and we can kick our own butts for letting them.

You are so right. Another issue is our children are thinking that they are gay because the opposite sex ignores them in high school. They experiment with sex for the pleasure of sex and not because they are gay. The majority go on find a spouse and marry but increasing amounts are engaging the homosexual lifestyle. We are allowing this to happen, because no one speaks against the homosexual lifestyle.
What we permit increases.
General Peter Pace, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff just recently spoke out against gays in the military. We need more men in this country taking a stand and protecting our young people. General Pace this grandmother loves you.
A few years back, I was a juror on a murder trial of a homosexual man who was killed by another homosexual man or the seducer and two other men for his money. Their lifestyle of bars and sex was too ugly for me. This lifestyle is nothing that I want to see increase.

I believe that it will cause leadership problems inside the military and other countries would also make fun of this. They would need to segregate the military between the homosexuals and the heterosexuals because their would be many fights and etc. Tax dollars would be wasted ever tremendously more than they already are also.

actuality: all people is born as they are from imperfections. Sin via Adam and Eve. We as in None human beings have been to be imperfect and by no skill be gay. The harshness of being gay is the performing upon it. it rather is one ingredient to be that way, or experience that way, it rather is yet another to act and condone it. sure, interior the Bible it rather is incorrect one hundred%. I agree and recognize it rather is incorrect. human beings have been twisting the Bible and Jehovah God's words for umpteen years to in nice condition their thinking and procedures of residing. It makes them experience greater effective with regard to the sins they are residing in. gay or at contemporary, incorrect is misguided. The words Jehovah gave us is sensible for coaching and placing issues at contemporary. yet, if human beings do no longer opt for to study them, do what's nice, which happens each and every day, then so be it. All we are able to do is wish they modify previously the top Comes.

Since other nations, such as Israel, do allow gay people to serve openly, I don't see them thinking of our military as a mockery for doing the same.

Men and women are sexually attracted to each other,so they are separated.
If men like sex with men,do they sleep and shower with women or men?If they sleep and shower with the gender they are sexually attracted too then would it be fair to keep men and women away from each other?
This could be an issue.

Most straight men will find it very hard to take orders from a gay man, it will cause leadership problems. For an openly gay man to hold a combat leadership position he would have to be one tough S.O.B.

The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few. As far as I'm concerned gays don't belong in the military, and I'm not alone in my sentiments.
