Most atheists I've met are highly moral, ethical, law-abiding citizens who embrace education, honesty, knowledge, truth and learning. They seem to possess these qualities innately. They don't start wars, fill up prisons, or try to force their non-belief on people A good majority dedicate their lives to improving society (ie. Bill Gates), magnanimous altruism (Warren Buffett) or improving the human condition (Crick, Einstein, Edison, Arthur C. Clarke, Carl Sagan, etc)

To top it all off, given verifiable proof, atheists would even accept god. The more you look at it, the more the atheist seems like an evolved version of Jesus Christ. So why wouldn't he want to hang with us?

"I cannot believe in the immortality of the soul.... No, all this talk of an existence for us, as individuals, beyond the grave is wrong. It is born of our tenacity of life – our desire to go on living … our dread of coming to an end."

- Thomas Edison

"I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religion than it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."

"I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotism."

-Albert Einstein

Einstein and Edison both believed in God. Einstein said he could not conceive of a universe that was not guided by the hand of God.

While your listing the wonderful atheists, you might want to remember that the worst recorded genocides have been done in countries where any form of religion was outlawed; USSR, Cambodia, China come to mind.

I agree there are many atheists who have ethical standards but the facts indicate they are just as capable of horrendous acts against other humans as everyone else.

Yes, I know! Sure, he hung with all kinds of people. I'm glad he took the time to show us that we're not alone in the universe. He showed us we can rise above the ways of the world. I think he would have had a problem with people who argued with him and told him that we're on our own and there is no hope for anything better with a little help from above.

Actually he wouldn't have much use for you. When the Pharisees demanded a sign from Him or proof as you demand He had this to say:
-------------
Matthew 12:
The Sign of Jonah
38 Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from you."
39 He answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41 The people of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one [d] greater than Jonah is here. 42 The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon's wisdom, and now one greater than Solomon is here.

Einstein was not an Atheist more of a Agnostic. Any way.... most atheist would be next to Jesus. Some would be helping societies get ride of him since they would think he is insane and delusional. It really come down to the individual. Not all atheists are moral. Just like not all Christians are moral. Christians are just bigger hypocrites.

You said it yourself, Athiests given PROOF would accept God.
Faith is not about proof, Although, I'm sure any of you so called Athiests, given a few minutes in Christ's glory would have no choice but to follow and believe in him. So, for that reason, he might want to hang with you.

Oh, I think he would. Jesus went where there was need. He wouldn't be hanging around saved Christians. But, no matter how intelligent and wise Jesus was, it was his heart for God that will always separate him from Atheists, whether he hangs around them or not.

I have not come to negate the law, but to fulfill it. You have seen me, you have seen the Father. I and the Father are one.

Are these the words of an atheist? Jesus the Christ would have tolerated atheists, just as he tolerated everyone.

Perhaps atheism is beter than doing business with religion and cheating people. Many of the atheists ultimately become real monotheists, because they, certainly not all of them, have the courage to speak the truth and the inner honesty. For definition of what religion is, you may see:

Yep, I think a good deal of so called "christians" would be appalled by the people J.C. would hang out with. (True Christians, please note lack of captialization and quotation marks). Atheists, pagans, freaks, etc. etc.

Is it belief in Christ's divinity or following of his teachings that makes one a Christian? If it's the second one, I've met quite a few "heathens" who are better "christians" than some "christians" I've met were.

I guess we'll all find out when we're dead.
