My girlfriend is about to lose someone very, very ... very close to her. She's devastated, depressed. She's a mess. I love her too much to see her this way. I will do anything in my power to pick her up, give her strength, and take care of her.

I compose music. Would it be a good idea to ask her to compose a song, just her and I for her loved one? She will think of the melodies, and I will make the song. It will be dedicated to her loved one.

Is that a good idea? Bad idea? Weird? Should I ask her or not? Thanks all.

It's a good idea, but something you should definitely not rush into. Just be there for her, that is enough consolation. You don't even need to say anything, just listen to her.

As for the music, it's a good idea, and I think over time you should gradually tell her your thoughts about it and see if she would want to do it. I think it's a lovely way to express grief, so long as its timed right.

I can't help it, but I have to do this:

Awwww you are so sweet! *sniff sniff*

I don't think asking her to compose a song with you about her loved one would be a good idea. It might make her feel even more depressed.

But I DO think that you should compose a song for HER. A song to tell her that you love her very much, and you'll be by her side in times of need, like right now. It would be nice to be comforted.

Dont ask her but tell her the idea and see what she thinks. I would see the song as honoring her friend, but she may see it as a reminder of bad times.
