When we first got him he was very skiddish. My last cat was a lap cat so this was a big shock. I want to know if it was something we are doing or if it's just him. He also bites so that is sometimes bad when we have company.

the biting after watching people move is part of hunting behavior. give him toys that move around or play with him with a stuffed animal on a string so he can satisfy that drive. for various reasons, some cats have more naturally feral instincts and behaviors and therefore tend to be more skittish. cats in nature bite each other during play and socialization in colonies, so the biting behavior that arises during play can be just that, a "play" bite. if the cat bites during play, say "Ow!" and walk away. to socialize your cat more, reward him for proximity to you and reinforce that proximity. it can be food reward or entice him to come to you and rub up against you. by doing that, he rubs his scent from glands on his skin and whiskers and "claims" you as part of his territory, making you familiar. if he stays or sits with you long enough to pet him, pet him "with the grain" of his fur his fur along his side and then in quick short strokes "against the grain", simulating a mother's licks as another reinforcer of proximity to you. eventually, the cat will learn that socialization = food and rewards but biting = less socialization which means no food or rewards.

Normal kitty behavior!
they are engineered to be hunters.rhythmically moving objects look like possible prey to them.
the biting,if he's attacking your swaying clothes etc. is almost guaranteeably not malicious. all cats will do this to your HANDS as well if they are not trained better.no squirt bottle or anything drastic for biting "bad things"(define this yourself & how rough you want Kitty to play) such as hands or electrical cords . just an instantanious sign that you're mad(not violence, just an angry/low tone works well) & promptly putting him in a short kitty 'time out'.
Assuming your cat is as smart as most cats & not as dumb as a rock,Kitty WILL catch on eventually & associate punishment with the behavior & stop.

undesirable temper! ascertain to be on suitable of each and every chew he delivers , for the reason that cats mouths are loaded with micro organism, and their teeth are sharp and pointy, they reason a puncture wound, the prospect with it somewhat is that the suitable portion of the wound heals quicker than the backside, trapping micro organism interior the wound. attempt making a spitting noise at your cat whilst he does it that keeps my cat from behaving badly, I only blow air by way of my lips in a pffft sound and she or he hates it she is familiar with she is doing some thing incorrect when I make that noise. DONT wrap a towel around your arm and permit him chew you using fact then he will think of that it fairly is okay play habit. purchase him a toy to take out his aggression on
