Why in the world would you wanna do that?? I don't see any good reason by doing that; but anyways, Yes you can, but that only could be done through the registry and do not recommend your doing it. You can change the color, though. You could go to desktop/properties/appearance tab/advance...good luck!!!

Follow the following steps to change you Start button text, color, and whatever else you want in windows. Nothing is impossible.

1) goto this link http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/
2) Download reshacker.exe application.
3) Unzip, and install it normally. It's a freeware.
4) Make a backup copy of your explorer.exe file
- goto c:\windows and right click the explorer.exe file and chose Copy from the menu.
- go back to c:\ and Paste it there (This will be a backup incase somethign happens.
5) Run the Reshacker.exe application
6) from File menu, open the c:\windows\explorer.exe file
7) Goto File menu again and SAVE AS explorer2.exe (Very IMP to SVE AS and not SAVE!)
8) On the left pane, open the 'String Table' item in the list
9) Open the '37' item on the list
10) Click on 1033
11) Here now u can xhange the text and error messages for the Start Button!!!
12) Click on Compile Script.
13) Save your work (File->Save)
14) exit the application
15) Goto Start->Run and type Regedit
16) d-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
17) goto Software -> Windows NT -> Current Version -> Win Logon
18) Look for 'Shell' on the right side and double-click it
19) Instead of explorer.exe type in explorer2.exe
20) Click ok
21) Restart your PC.

*** Changing registry files could be fatal for your PC ***
*** Do at your own risk buddy ***

Follow the registry steps and change explorer2.exe back to explorer.exe to go back to the normal original

there r a zillion things u can change thru that prog and those steps.. this is just an intro for the start button text. Gluk.. ;)

ok check it. if you are using WINDOWS XP with SERVICE PACK 2, you could replace the entire theme of the windows interface. its pretty easy to do and completely safe for your pc. just follow the steps and you will be perfectly fine.

1. download the uxtheme patch here (its from softpedia, so you know it is safe) ... http://www.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-Enhancements/Themes/UXTheme-Patch-For-Windows-XP-SP2-Final.shtml

2. follow the instructions on that page to replace the new file with the old one.

3. check out either... http://www.wincustomize.com/ or http://customize.org/ for all sorts of themes

you could try a program called window blinds, I don't have the URL but you can search for that and find it, it changes the button or you can get themes.
