First let me say that 4 1/2 weeks is way to young for a puppy to be away from it's mom and litter mates. With that said though, I do not blame you I blame the breeder. I have seen way to many times puppies getting mistreated and neglected just because the "breeders" couldn't get rid of them because they were too young. Yes it still needs to be with the mother but you probably saved it's life and did the best thing for it. I would also report the breeders. Now what you need to do is give it a lot of nurturing, get it in puppy classes as soon as it's old enough and then continue the obedience classes.
And the fluffy hair you are talking about is puppy hair.

If you are buying a puppy that is four weeks old, bring it back, get your money back and don't buy another puppy until you learn a few things about raising a puppy. If you thought it was OK to bring a pup home that young you clearly know nothing about owning dogs. When you do some reading, look into other breeds of dog (like a Chihuahua)because you don't know enough about APBTs to raise one successfully and not give the breed's reputation another black eye. You got 'beat on da head' because you don't know what you are doing, if you did you wouldn't be bying a puppy from some idiot who thinks it is ok to sell a dog who has been breathing air for just over a month. In most states that is illegal yo! I would also like to point out that a puppy taken away so young will not be a better pet, it is just the opposite, you dog has not had enough time to learn its own language and pick up on how to be a dog. Like the above person said, a puppy like this has a good chance of growing up to be a problem dog. Sorry if I sound harsh, but until these dogs became a 'status symbol' I had no problems with people getting nervous around my well behaved dogs. Now I have stupid people asking me how I can own such a vicious dogs and she is just walking with me on a loose lead, carrying her stuffed bunny and not bothering anyone! really wish ghetto rats would go find another breed to screw up and leave APBTs alone. Dee De DEEEE
Now to answer your question... no, pitbull puppies are never what I would consider fluffy, at least not when they are of any decent quality :)

You must be baiting us. Surely you know people will be writing back, horrified about having a 4 1/2 week old puppy, not to mention a pitbull, and having you ask such a boneheaded, ignorant question.
She has a puppy coat, you can't tell what her permanent coat will be like. Nor can you conclusively say about a 4 1/2 week old pit that "she is shaped like a pit".
You should be "beat in da head" for having her. Congratulations, you bought a time bomb. Not because she is a pit, but because she was removed from her litter way too young, because you are obviously ignorant of the basic facts of dog husbandry, and because you ask here.

What the blank are you doing with a 4 1/2 week old puppy? That puppy still needs it's mother until it's 8 weeks. Taking a puppy away to soon can cause all kinds of health problems not to mention it could die or go blind. Anybody who is a responsible breeder would have never let that puppy go. You have no idea if it's a purebred. I but where ever you got a few of them and they were either tied up or locked in a room because they were dangerous. It's people like that, that cause the pitbull to get a bad name. And shame on you for letting them profit.

there are not different types of pitbulls only bloodlines!
4.5 weeks and you brought her home take her right back get your money and run as fast and far away as possible, you bought a back yard puppy from a very irresponsible breeder
Find a breeder who health tests for gentic diseases that affect the breed (if you dont know which those are you need to do more research before buying a dog) also keeps the pups to at least 6 weeks ideally 8wks between 6-8wks the puppy learns extremely valuable socialization including bite inhibition (understanding that biting hurts)

At 4-1/2 weeks old, she is way too young to be away from her mother. 8 weeks is the very youngest they should be separated. Whoever sold her to you is very irresponsible, so it's hard to know whether she is full-blooded or not. She has a puppy coat, which is why she is fluffy.

First off, I agree with kbama200, "pitbull" is not an akc recognized breed, it is however ukc accepted. At 4 1/2 weeks the puppy should not have left it's mother, and most puppy's have "fluffier" fur for a little while! If anything you should be mad at the breeder for letting the puppy go that early.

Oh boy, she's definitely too young to be away from her mother. The best is 8wks, the next best, if have to be is 6 wks. Get her to the vet to make sure she's healthy and to be sure you're feeding her properly. It's also going to be very important to get her into a training class with positive reinforcement. Make sure she gets a LOT of socialization. I would also report the breeders, they are not good ones. You take on HUGE responsibility when you get a Pit Bull. They have a bad reputation from bad breeders and owners. Read and study all you can on the breed. Please do the right thing and bring it up properly and help them get a positive rep.

That's way too young to be away from it's mother.
If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the dog?
Also, that's what I like to call 'puppy fluff', it will become less furry as it gets older.
Whatever you do, DO NOT take the puppy back to it's owners, it will just get sold again. Hand feed it, take it to the vet, whatever! Just don't take it back. They'll sell it again right away, I can almost guarentee it.
I hope everything turns out okay for you and the pup though..
