Romans 8:29-30 "For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified."

What do you make of that? Is it predestination or foreknowledge?

Foreknowledge. God extends the gift of eternal life to everyone, but he also, (being omniscient) already knows who will accept and who will reject.

Continue reading for Romans 9 - 11 shows how God chooses on the basis of grace and mercy. Romans 11:32 even says: For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all. Without foreknowledge and predestination there would be no assurance of an eternal purpose and destiny. Read Romans 8 again. It is overflowing with assurance based on the love of God. Don't worry -- for nothing will separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:28-30 "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn, with many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And he gave them right standing with himself, and he promised them his glory."

In these verses, the word calls refers to being summoned or invited. God's ultimate goal for us is to make us like Christ. As we become more and more like him, we discover our true selves, the persons we were created to be.

Some believe these verses mean that before the beginning of the world, God chose certain people to receive his gift of salvation. They point to verses such as Ephesians 1:11, which says that God "chose us from the beginning, and all things happen just as he decided long ago." Others believe that God knew in advance who would respond to him, and upon those he set his mark (he chose them). What is clear is that God's purpose for people was not an afterthought; it was settled before the foundation of the world. People are to serve and honor God. If you believe in Christ, you can rejoice in the fact that God has always known you. God's love is eternal. His wisdom and power are supreme. He will guide and protect you until you one day stand in his presence.

Hope that this helps!

Foreknowledge of who would be saved. Then predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son. Enjoy.

Romans 8:22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. 24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. 31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

One way of finding out. Go and ask him.
If you have faith, find a church and go and ask.
I have always thought that when your time is up -- its up.

If the lord put a time factor on his faithful there would not be many good people to help the rest of us.
All I know is I have my faith and I believe. I have one life and I intend to make the most of what the good lord has provided.
Hopefully I will be around to see my grandchildren happy - healthy little munchkins.

Both
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)

As the scripture says that those He foreknew He predestined......well I believe that He chose us all....because the scripture also says that He knew us BEFORE (foreknew)we were in our mothers' womb....which means He chose all of us, but I guess everyone doesn't choose Him. And because He is omniscient He already knows who does or doesnt choose Him. We are ALL given the opportunity....Jesus died for the sins of the entire world.....it's up to us to believe and receive that gift!

No he does not, we do that ourselves. Try rereading the scripture but placing periods this time: ex: And those he predestined he also called. Those he called, he also justified. etc. etc..
