Honestly, I think we should be held to a higher standard. Does it mean that Christ isn't true if we miss the mark? No. Don't judge Christianity based on my failure.
It is true that a person really following Christ will experience change in their lives, in their spirit. We are to be transformed, and we are to be set apart and different. Not "holier than thou" but we are to be holy, humble, joyful, bearing fruits of the Holy Spirit.
We are supposed to be noticeably different than what the world offers.
It is a shame that what often occurs is that those whom we should be reaching out to with love and compassion are the very ones who are "outreaching" us and whom we are unkindest to.

Sometimes, yes. If you go to church on a regular basis and are taught that sin is wrong, then it is assumed that they should live a "cleaner" life than non believers. Yes, Christians are humans too, and will most likely sin, but you should at least try to live as you preach. God is supposed to be perfect, and Christians are to portray God. Or at least in theory, anyways. There are a ton of people I know who I was very surprised to find out they were Christians. They didn't act like I thought a Christian should. Meaning, that Christians should at least look like they are trying to follow the word and works of God.
There are many other reasons people feel Christianity is wrong, not just looking at other Christians.
Also, I don't really know what answers you were looking at. I don't see many people using the excuse that Christians aren't perfect, that's why I don't believe in God.

Jesus is perfect. People are not. The biggest reason I walked away from Jesus once was because I felt I never measure up. Non-believer people's expectations from me as a Christian made me want to be on their side rather...It is easier to be critical of others than actually try to follow a perfect example. I know Jesus died for all my sins. And I have a lot of them.
Yes, we should hold up a higher standard as Christians, but it is easier said than done. I still believe in God's standards.

Alot of people forget we are all human and we are all sinners. My problem with some so called Christians is their double standard. Especially some politicians who where all over a past president for an affair and they just recently admitted to having an affair while still being married. The same goes for some evangelists . Their condemning the public and their out hooking up with prostitutes. Sometimes it just drives me crazy.

Christians aren't perfect, they're just forgiven! (I love that bumper sticker.)
The difference is that while we still sin, we realize that sin separates us from God and we attempt to stop committing those sins. The stronger our faith in God, the more likely we are to be successful in keeping sin out of our lives. But, since Jesus said that if we just had faitht the size of a mustard seed, we could move mountains, and since I haven't seen any mountains changing positions lately, I'm assuming that no matter how hard we try, we will still have that "human problem", and still will never have enough faith to completely rid us of our sins.
That's the beautiful thing about God's grace....if we tell Him we're a sinner and know that we are sinning and need his help because we can never be good enough to win our salvation into Heaven, He will accept that, and forgive us, train us, and make us better.
I think a lot of people are fooled by those who call themselves Christians but are really out for money, power, etc. Go to a small country church one Sunday morning. Talk to some of the people. Go eat dinner with them. Watch their families in action. That's where you'll see the real Christians. Not on TV asking for money and performing miracles. Not in one of these "mega-churches" asking for money. Go to your small, poor churches and you'll find people who spend everyday of their lives living for Christ and being blessed for it.
And to "cypher"....only catholics confess anonymously to a priest. Christians don't do that, because we know that in order to be forgiven we have to take our sins directly to God. We even admit them to our fellow church members on occasion so that they can pray that we will be delivered from our sins.

Let me put it this way different religons have different beliefs or their wouldn't be different in general so the different beliefs separate Gods people but those that are thought buy God see the same things through Jesus Christ and his ministry of teachings i hope that is plain enough. Yes we all sin and come short of the glory of God it is because we still live in the flesh the flesh is sin in itself.Nobody is perfict God only made one Jesus! But he did say strive to be perfict.

It's this whole notion exception from sin via confession that creates this moral vacuity in Christianity. I am an atheist, and I don't expect people not to "sin". Sometimes I won't even hold it against them. Christians, however, condemn sin in principle but then go and commit sin, only to "confess" anonymously and declare their conscience clean. Christians are holding themselves to a higher standard, we're just obliging them.

I hold Christianity to it's own standard. The rules are written out in black ink and pretty clear. If a Christian can't even follow the rules set by his or her religion (That she or he chose), how can he or she be called a Christian? And how DARE they question me?

I have always said, if you believe it, then live it! I have no time for part-time Christians! Show me the compassion that Jesus preached! I promise you I'll return the same. As an atheist, I believe you get out of the world what you put into it. That goes for everyone and whatever they believe. If we all loved our neighbors, we wouldn't have time to bicker!

Mostly because a lot of the Christians throw stones at us while they do the same thing, then tell us that we're going to hell. If you're going to call yourself "Christ like" I think you should act that way.
