I'm filling out my sister's baby shower invitations. They are very informal, but I still want them to be polite. What exactly should I write to let the guests know that we will be serving an informal lunch during the shower? I don't want to leave it off in case people wonder and don't know if they should eat first or not, but I'm not sure how to word it. Thanks for your suggestions.

This whole network thing is great.

I write similar invites for non-profit events, and I usually just write that a "light" meal will be provided. I put it at the bottom.

Luncheon will be served. Buffet luncheon will be served.
You might also mention the dress code. If the code, for example, is "casual" most people assume that the luncheon would be, too, and will not be expecting fois gras and caviar.

"Lunch will be served at two o'clock"

or simillar.

Actually-- since we are in the etiquette board, it's poor etiquette for a family member to be hosting the shower. Why are you hosting it? Doesn't she have friends?
