There are alot of diseases that don't have cures. Luckily there is treatment for schizophrenia, I know the medications have some unpleasent side-effects but they can help you live a normal life. You have to stay on them and be consistant, because going off them and relapsing means your disease will progress.
Take the medicine, be faithful with your therapy and other appointments, and attend support groups where available. Hopefully one day there will be a cure, but for now just like someone with diabetes do the treatments and keep trying to live life as normally as possible.

I'm a nurse and It is because the mind and the way people think is a complex thing. I'm so sorry but if you or a loved one is suffering from this, there are so many options for you now in days. Medicine is the very best and most people live normal lives being under a doctors care. I hope this is useful information and try to cheer up, everyone is fighting something in their lives, even me. Take care and I wish you all the best of luck.

The disorder is not well enough understood yet. Brain disorders and hormonal problems (like diabetes) are very complicated. Unfortunately, the mental illnesses get the fewest research dollars of major (more common) medical conditions. Hopefully that will change.

I'm bipolar, I don't get the best out of treatments either, so I feel for you.

Perhaps one day they will, we just don't know. Schizophrenia can be controlled really well with medication, as long as they are taken properly. Schizophrenia is often brought on by drug/alcohol addiction especially in those that are pre disposed.

Same reason we don't have world peace. They just can't seem to do it at least not yet. However, they do have great medications which help tremendously but the patient has to want the help and take the medications religiously for it to do any good at all.

The human brain is more complicated than anything else in our bodies, we don't even use it to our full extent. We are just begining to understand it's true complexities.
