Flea Powders

Powders are not as effective unless you put it on them & then hold them in something like a pillow case for 15 minutes.

Powders sufficate the fleas and if you just pour it on them & let them go it just doesn't work.

Plus you have to do something about the fleas that crawl up to their face and ears to escape the powder.

If your cat has fleas then you need to assume that they also have tape worms and if you don't treat the tapes they will starve your cat. Some vets will only give you worm meds if they get to see the cat, some will give you the meds if you know the cats weight.

There is a shot that works really great and it is the best alternative for worming a cat.

If it's a money thing, try contacting the humane society or any cat organization in your area & asking for some help to get the cat started on her shots & flea/worm control.

Good luck!

Yes.
You need to be careful using for a cat though. Only put it on the back of the head where they can't reach it.
When treating the cat you need to also treat their bedding - if your cat has a blanket - time for a wash & change - & put the bed out to air for a while.
This needs to be repeated after about a week because any flea eggs will have hatched & you need to deal with them as well.
There are also some treatments that you can buy that will treat the whole house. It usually involves everyone including the animals leaving home for several hours but it is supposed to last for about 6 months. These treatments are more expensive.
I'm very lucky - I live in a remote area where my cats don't contact other cats. We have no fleas. When I lived in a city it was a problem though.

Actually I felt they were more effective and than things like frontline. My cat uses it when she needs it instead of paying so much money for something that you might not need every month. Plus I would like to give my animals the least chemical intervention as possible. The flea powder doesn’t have an odor, and it’s easy to use. Honestly its the quickest, and more effective than collars and drops. It wears off after a couple of days which is great because you don’t have to have it all the time- just when they are there.

I have never seen my cat lick it, It doesn’t make her sneeze or me sneeze it stays on her, sometimes gets in the carpet but if you vacuum it comes right out, plus you have to pick up the dead fleas somehow. If your cat does lick it, its not toxic or permanent like the drops. It’s not poisonous to them or humans.

My cat hates the drops.

You also pay 15 dollars for a bottle that lasts about a year- its about 100 dollars for 3 months worth of the drops, And it is effective as soon as the flea ingests it so instantly, instead of waiting for the blood drops to enter the blood stream and work its way out to the skin.

They only work on the cat's actual beddings or where the cat sits and lays down. Best use a spot-on flea med like Advantage for your cat. I used flea powders, sprays, etc, but with very very little real success - the fleas keep coming back.

They are less safe and much less effective than Frontline or Advantage than cats - try these products instead - they are more expensive but they work much better. Flea powder is not good because the cats will lick it off and ingest it.

NO!! They are ineffective and not safe for your kitty!

Go to your vet and get frontline, advantage, or Revolution.

I prefer Revolution because it controls not only fleas, but also hook worm, round worm, heart worm, and ear mites. It will cost you about $55 for a 6 month supply and you'll get a free dose with that. Or, you can buy one single dose for about $15. Very much so worth the money if you ask me!

Good luck:)

Fleas are a major pest. There are various species of fleas - cat fleas, dog fleas, rat fleas and rabbit fleas.
You can get rid of them by the safest and cheapest methods like boric acid.

No. I'd tell you to use something like frontline, revolution or advantage. More effective, definitly safer, and likely won't make you sneeze lol.

Revolution is definitly the BEST product for cats.

Not only takes care of fleas, but it use for heartworms, treatment and control of intestinal parasites and ear mites...all in a topical that lasts a whole month!

You can go homeopathic mix some oil of lavender and water and spray on your cat weekly...Fleas hate lavender and they will flee at the smell of it leaving your pet and house flea free!
