You cant make him stop, sounds like he has an oral fixation. In order for someone to change a behavior, they have to change their attitude about that behavior. So... if you wanna help them you have to help them see that their smoking is harmful and that their eating habits are harmful.. but more than just that you have to really show them the effects.. not by extreme effects either like cancer or some stupid tube in the throat when ppl smoke too much... you have to think of something that he can actually relate to like.. shortness of breath. stuff like that then show him how shortness of breath can ne negative.

You can't. The general tendancy is that the more you try and make a human being do something the more likely they are to carry on doing what they want. Work on yourself don't work others over. When you are perfect maybe then you are qualified!

I used to chew tabacco and I quit when I realised it was a problem-not to mention icky and vile to others.

You can only be there for a person when they choose to kick a habit.

Have you confronted the person?
Good Luck

unfortunately you cannot make anyone with any kind of addiction problem stop. They ultimately have to stop on their own. What you can do is to constantly remind that person how disgusting it is....with caution of course...you dont want to be mean. If its your partner then refuse to kiss...maybe that will change their mind. Good luck!

new sex tactics. Maybe nicorrette gum. It's same amount of nicotine even more. And avoid watching Country channels with cows, rodeo etc. Hmmm, avoid professional help even if its free.

They have to want to quit. All that you can do is present all of the negative aspects including health and hygiene issues.
