The Bible says Jesus will forgive all who ask. There is no limit on this. Even murder and suicide will be forgiven.
All of God's judgements are perfect and just, because unlike us, He knows everything. We sometimes cannot understand our own hearts, let alone someone elses.
Your brother operates under the same rules we all do. If he asked for Jesus' forgiveness, Jesus will grant it - without limitation. If he did not, he has no hope.
Only your brother and God know what choices were made between them.
But know this, Jesus lived the plight of the oppressed. He knows people can be ovetwhelmed by evil. He understands sometimes we're up against more than we can withstand.

I'm sorry to hear about your brother. I lost my brother to suicide too.
The bible DOES answer that question. It mentions only one unforgivable sin...and suicide isn't it. God is loving and just and would never punish someone for being ill. And as another R&S poster once said...punishing someone for suicide is the same as punishing an Alzheimer's patient for being combative. It's just part of the illness. I, have hope, along with the apostle Paul....that he recorded at Acts 24:15 that there will be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous!

A person committing suicide, is already living in hell. If this was not true, what need would they have to commit suicide? They are trying to get out of the hell they are presently in. Heaven and Hell is right here on Earth and a state of mind. Wake up people.

No. One cannot repent of it, but in LDS, there is no 'hell', thus one can be redeemed of it But a caveat...if one committs suicide, they do not get resurrected during the Millennia, and have to wait until final judgement. Christs atonement can redeem all sins except blashphemy.. So a suicide remains in limbo until Judgement, cannot attain the higher glories of Heaven...which in one sense, would be a hell.
It's possible that your brother was troubled, and thus not responsible in full for his decision, in which case he would be forgiven. If a 6yo child walks in front of a truck, are they forgiven? I wold hope so...

I don't believe that suicide is an automatic Hell sentence. My mother struggled with alcohol. She commit suicide 26 years ago.. Pray for your brother. Grieve for your brother. But don't spend too much time dwelling on this question. It will just keep you upset longer than you need to be. I don't believe my mother is in Hell, but I won't know for sure until I get to heaven myself.

It take only a split second for God to save someone. I, too, have to wonder about some of my family who died by accident and suicide. I hold out hope that God dealt with them in that split second before they died.
Also, most suicides are caused by a belief that others will be better off without them. Clearly not thinking with a totally sane mind -temporarily or permanent.
Have peace in knowing that whatever the result, it is God who is in charge.

It is a sad case. I'm sorry for your family. I believe God will judge fairly but he is also very loving. I feel your brother was not in the right frame of mind when he committed suicide. He was very troubled and I believe God understands that. Committing suicide is unfortunately, included in the meaning of murder in Greek Bible. The ten commandments : thou shalt not kill, includes suicide.
We can only pray to God to have mercy on his soul. Try not to focus so much on this aspect. Just hope that your brother has accepted the Lord and is heaven. God is loving, merciful and holy and just. How about leaving it to God to judge? It's his job, not our job. What is past is past already. God works on our present and future. Perhaps, this incident informs us to treasure what we have and to love God more. Life is precious in God's sight. God loves you. God will comfort the grieving. I lost my father recently too. My heart goes out to you. All the best and God bless.

My condolences to you and your family. I don't believe hell exist.
You and your family must seek help to ease the pain that such tragedy has brought to your lives. The pain will not go a way for a long time, but it is good to know that you are not alone in the suffering and that there are many of us who know how it feels to go through such difficult times.
If you feel like praying for his soul, by all means do so. Also pray for you and your family, for strength to go on in the adversity.

No, there is no hell to go to. Just like in life, when you leave this world you create your own reality, so if you believe in hell, and you believe you deserve to go there, then you may create that experience for yourself, but it only lasts as long as it takes for you to realize that you are creating the experience for yourself. There are always guides to help you find the realization more quickly. God is pure love, and pure love could never create a place of eternal condemnation and still be pure love. God cannot make mistakes, therefore none of us is a mistake. The idea that we are sinners and unworthy, and have to earn our way to heaven is ludicrous. Even those who do great evil in this world are only playing a role in this game that we call life. It is not who they really are, and God knows them as they really are. We are here to remember that, and see the God and the love in everyone, even those we perceive as evil. We cannot change them, we have to let them each follow their own path. And we do not have to love their evil acts. But, we can learn to see that we are all part of God, even them. *sm*

Nothing is certain friend.
Don't assume the worst or that anyone knows the ultimate truth.
Your brother sounds like he was a troubled man, and thats truly a shame. But keep heart, now he is finally at peace.
And for every christian that says YES, i hope you too find yourself bereft of a loved one in a similar manner.
And i hope you recall how CERTAIN you were that the person is hellbound. Lets see how nice it will be to know for a fact how the afterlife works when its YOUR family on the line.
