i have one, and we've had him since he was 2 mths. he is now 9 mths, and has been crate-trained since 6 mths ago.
crate training is the only way to go. buy a crate that is small enough that she can lay down, sit, and stand. if you buy it too big, she will poop/pee in one part, then lay down in another. dachs are stubborn, but a year of being untrained is crazy.
when you are home with her, watch for signs that she is about to poop (circling, sniffing, etc), then take her out. you will have to start the training all over, even though she is a year old. after she eats, drinks, naps, and plays, take her out.
when you leave the house, put her in the crate. she'll get used to it. as soon as you come home, take her right out (don't make a big deal until she pees/poops, cause she'll pee all over you). soon, she'l go to the door. mine learned to go to the door within 3 weeks.
1 year old is not too late to train. good luck! remember to praise her and not yell.

You can get those training pads at like petsmart and put it in one place all the time, perferably by the back door. After you feed and water your pup walk it over to the pad and use a command like"go potty" stand there until it goes on the pad. Say it again,,really excitely and good girl. Then take the pad out side and put it where you want her to go. Play with her outside and every 10 or 20 minutes take her to the pad and command go potty. Let her run a way , but keep returning her there every 10 mins. or so and repeat the command. She will ultimately go on it again, and praise her big time. take the pad back in the house an put another fresh one down by the back door with the old one beside it. Any time she goes near the pads praise her. If she starts to pee pick her up and put her on the pad while she's still peeing. tell her go potty and then praise her. You have to be consistant. A few days of this should get her going in the right direction! Good luck!

I am on my fourth minature dachshund -- its easier to train the house-lol. As you can well imagine they are not able to hold that bladder for too long and they really don't care what stupid rules you make up about where it is ok to pee-lol. I use pads. I keep them down and still catch my little 9 pound baby lifting his leg from time to time in the house. It really doesn't matter how often I walk him he is definitely doing his own thing. I have heard of people who claim their dachshunds are trained but then they always say well except for . . . . i say if you tell me your dachshund is fully housebroken then I say one of two things are going on here - l. you are a liar or two that isnt a dachshund-lol. Good Luck. They are the most wonderful little dogs on the planet with the biggest heart, stubborn as the dickens and full of themselves, very clever and very smart- its a trade off. They are not particularly obedient and I have had two who when confronted with my anger over finding poo on the floor just picked it up and ate it to shut me up!! Good luck -k-

Same as any other dog
#1 If it pees tell it NO and put it out side(dont forget to put its nose in the pee)for a few min.
#2 Put out a news papper on the floor and show it the news papper and when it pees on the floor bring it to the news papper.
I'm a pro. at dachshund training i have 6 of them!!They are all house trained by me!!!

Keep at it - Dachshunds are stubborn little buggers. Listen to what kbama has to say, she is exactly right.
One of my doxies, a 3 yr old, when confronted about pooping in the house, picked it up and took it outside!

dachshunds are very stubborn so you need to get firm with her, when i started to train my dog housbroke he would go outside but wouldnt potty he just wanted to play, so what i did was i put him in his kennel and once an hour i took him out and take him outside to potty , if he didnt potty i put him back inhis kennel and eventually after a few days he was potty trained good luck may not worl for your dog but it worked for mine

actual, %. one ingredient and stick to it. i think of consistency is the foremost, canines learn via that. I agree i might by no skill enable them to pee interior the abode on something, it merely teaches them its okay to pee interior the abode. I actually have a 4 month previous Bullmastiff, and he has been abode experienced for over a month now, and that i've got had canines my entire existence. merely get her on a ordinary, take her for a walk interior the AM and PM. My domestic dog is to drained to have any interior the abode, lol. Take her out on the comparable time wide-unfold, and save your eye on her each sec until she would not do it anymore, that way you may continually capture her jointly as she is doing it and perfect her. in case you won't be able to be there have her in a crate, they gained't pee of their crate. that's going to be difficult and extremely time ingesting on the start, yet properly worth it. have faith me I even have 3 childrens one being 6 months previous, yet i'm happy I did it, because of the fact now he's a superb portion of our kinfolk at in basic terms 4 months previous. good success!!!!

Miniature dashies aren't the easiest to house train.
If you want to train her for an indoor potty try here - http://www.dog-obedience-training-review.com/puppy-housebreaking.html
If you want to use a crate or for her to ask to go outside try this - http://www.squidoo.com/puppy-housetraining/
Good luck with her.
