I am due to have an MRI scan on my head to determine the cause of my headaches. What should i expect with an MRI? How long do they normally take? How long do I wait for the results? Do i need an injection?

It depends on what kind of MRI they are doing if you will need an injection. They normally take 20 to 30 minutes. Depending on the machine, you are usually put on a flat "bed"and rolled into the opening of the machine. You can look at my sources at pictures. You will hear loud clapping noises and the results are immediate, but it will depend on how long a doctor will take to interpret them.

Wear something comfortable and do not wear any metal or electronic gadgets or gizmos.

Thats it, thats all you need to do to prepare.
