There are two possibilities. You may have developed an allergy to cats or your cat may have developed a skin condition that you are allergic to.

If you are now allergic to all cats, then it's the first one and you may need to be tested and take pills/shots/etc.

Chances are that something may have changed with your cat. Skin problems are often signs of illness, or the cat may simply of gotten mites that you can't see. Here is a link to more on cat allergies http://www.belfield.com/article6.html

Have you changed the cats diet? Cat litter? Do you notice any skin flakes, rough hair or red spots in the scalp? Do you have new carpet?

Of the 5 cats in my house, I was only allergic to one. I couldn't have her anywhere near my face. (I have had her 16 years.) I recently put my cats on a high quality natural food and a feline vitamin because one of the other cats was ill. To my surprise I now find out that I am not allergic to my old female cat any longer! It took about 2-3 weeks, but I have seen a huge difference in how well her coat looks. She sheds less and now sleeps on my pillow at night without bothering me. In the past my eyes would have been swelled shut in the morning. It is winter here so the windows are shut tight and this is normaly my worst time for this problem.

I would have both you and your cat checked over. If nothing wrong is found I'd try putting her on a good natural canned food. (Check your pet store, feed store or http://www.onlynaturalpet.com ) Try a feline vitamin for skin allergies also. You can find these at the same places. It's may be a cheap way to solve the problem without drugs.

Good luck!

you can become allergic to something at any time, even if you've never had allergies before. ISN'T THAT WEIRD? i would suggest taking claritin hives relief and going to a doctor.
