I would say 4-6 weeks at most...it's still drinkable but beer can skunk and taste awful. If you have a bunch of leftover beer from a party or something, give it away or have some friends over :)

any more then 6 months and I think your pushing it. Sam Adams has a 'best if drank before date' on their bottles and they are usually approx 6 mths.
The darker the glass and the darker the beer (more barley) ie: porter or stouts, dark ales, will last longer.
I had had homebrew, (a xmas porter) lost in a fridge (behind others beers) for over 2 years.!!
After we tossed back a few ,we found it , cracked it open, and it was fan'freekin'tastic..!!! Better than it was 18 months earlier. So it DID get better with AGE....but again...it was a dark, 7.2% abv homebrew.!!
Cheers.!

Unopened and cool, up to 2 years.
Exposed to heat, much shorter time period.
Remember these things work their way around from the brewery to the local store to the shelf to your house and take their time.
Heat will kill 'em, but keep 'em cool, goodness, don't limit them to two weeks. They probably spent more time than that in your supermarket.

I have 3 Coronas left from a 6 pack that was bought in August 2005. They are still good. My Dad drank one when they came to visit in November.

The real question is how thirsty are you???
I am sure it depends on the beer. Dark vs lighter. They will get stale though and FRESH beer is almost always best.

About 24hrs in my fridge! Seriously in a bottle in the fridge I would leave it max 6mths in a can 3mths.
