check to see if the cooling fans are running inside the case. Go ahead and open the side of the case (if you cannot hear the fan) and look at the blades while you boot up. Chances are your processor is overheating. Get a new fan and / or add another one inside the case along the front inside panel. Move the puter away from the walls or desk a little. Computers need air lots of it. Get the computer away from an exterior wall that is heated by the sun. Vacuum the dust in and around the computer. Happy Cooling

I had this happen and found that I had tons of spyware. Go to http://www.download.com then look for adware se, spybot, and avg free. Update the database then run them all. You may be surprised at how much better the computer will run.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.

If you are getting downloads, like updates...it acts slow.

If it locks up, well that is called crashing. If you are playing games, turn down the bit rate on the games. If not, then I would suggest, you restore to a earlier time, and if you have not, I would back up your files. It sounds to me like corrruption and crashing.
