your bite is off, braces could help correct this. but seeing a tmjd specialist would be the best choice to view options. ps. silver fillings do not cause jaw problems, fillings can cause jaw problems only if they are not fit to your teeth correctly. Mercury exposure for fillings are highest when taken out and put in. we eat mercury in fish all the time and the levels are different from time to time.

I have TMJ, have had braces, and I work for an orthodontist. Your jaw shouldn't still be crooked after braces, unless you are a jaw surgery candidate. Sometimes they recommend waiting until you are 18 or so to make sure you're through growing. If your jaws don't line up properly due to Jmisalignment from one or both growing improperly, you probably do need jaw surgery. By avoiding opening your mouth wide, which adds stress to your jaw joints, this may alleviate the popping. Also avoiding any excessive chewing like tough foods or gum/sticky candy may help. If your orthodontist thinks that your crooked smile is normal, it never hurts to seek a second opinion. Surgery on the jaw JOINT itself is not recommended these days because of the growth of scar tissue and then you're right back where you started with the popping and more pain. Hope some of this helps!

hey don't worry I'm 15 and had it since i was like 12 its TMJ.. look it up.. it might go away..but you might need surgery for it to.. just go to the doctor and see what they can do.. I'm pretty much used to it.. some times mine gets really painful.. but then it goes away.

Go back to see your orthodontist.

You could be suffering from TMJ.

go to a TMJ specialist. also, have your dentist check your bite, because that can cause it.

if you have mercury fillings, get them out, because they can also lead to jaw problems.

YOU HAVE TMJD
TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT (YOU HAVE 2 BY THE WAY) DISORDER.
SO WHAT CAN BE DONE?
YOU HAVE TO SEE A DENTIST QUALIFIED TO TREAT TMJD, AND NOT ALL DENTISTS ARE KNOWLEDGEABLE OR EXPERIENCED IN IT.
