I have a co-worker who wears a baseball cap (a tattered one at that) all day in our office - which is a professional setting.

For starters, we have a dress code. Furthermore, it looks ridiculous for a grown man to be wearing a baseball cap. Is there a way to subtly tell him this is ridiculous?

to answer you question in a vacuum: professional baseball players.

to answer your question contextually: if your dresscode prohibits hats, and he suffers no punishment for "violating it," then it is not a dress code.

I know a professor like that. He ALWAYS wears a baseball cap while donning a dress shirt with ties and slacks. The cap throws the whole look off! But, I guess he's just embaressed because he's bald. You could try subtly hinting to him that the office is not appropiate for that, like, "Hey, who are you hiding from under there?" or "Isn't it a bit too hot to wear that?" If that doesn't work, just wait till he falls asleep at the desk then swipe it away!

It really depends on the work environment and the company's adherence to the dress code. If it does violate dress code and it really is a distraction, you might mention it to him lightly.

The company I work for has a dress code, and while I dress in slacks and nice shirts, I wear converse tennis shoes or vans. It's not okay to wear shorts, but it is okay to have blue hair.

I'd talk to the co-worker about it. If he seems a casual personality, maybe bring it up as a joke to see how he responds.

I work for a state funded employment agency and you'd be surprised how many men come in with tattered ball caps with their sunglasses perched on the brim thinking they look sooo cool. It doesn't.Learn not only to wash ,but COMB your hair too.

A lot of people who have a problem with glare interfering with their vision, will wear baseball hats indoors. My husband wears one for this reason. He is not a loser. He is a business man who is well liked and treats all people with respect.

often I placed on a ball cap the appropriate way. the only time I placed on it backwards is whilst i'm outdoors doing pictures (my interest). The bill gets interior the way of my digicam and lenses. i don't have a situation with how human beings placed on their ball caps, nonetheless i think of sideways seems noticeably stupid. it particularly is purely an opinion.

Is it possible that he has scabies or psoriasis or some other disgusting head fungus that needs to be hidden? Have you ever seen his scalp? It could be worse than looking at the hat. That is what I would be thinking.

Could be he's losing his hair and is sensitive about it. Unless you're his boss and you're in a position to tell him what to do you shouldn't say anything to him at all. If you want to complain you should complain to his boss or yours.
