I don't think it's the story aspect they are hung up on. Not many people walk around and say that Greek mythology or comic books really happened. I personally don't know anyone who worships Apollo or Superman. I know some pretty strange people, but none that weird. Anyways, Christians claim the bible is true, atheists don't believe it is. They are just asking for proof.

Comic books have nothing to do with religions past or present. Greek myths were a part of an ancient polytheistic religion that no one believes in anymore. Therefore, there is no reason to be offended by them.
Atheists don't get offended by religions or faiths, especially the Christian faith. They aren't hung up on it at all. It's only when Christians attack atheists that they voice their opinions on religion and faith.

Interesting question. I do not think anyone is trying to pass a comic book a true. Greek mythology is not presented as true.
Christian stories are presented as truth. But some of them are good stories too. That's why I sometimes debate them. But I only get "hung up" when someone tries to sell it to me as truth and become insistent on it. I like to watch the bible stories on National Geographic. I love that channel!

Huh? I don't know any atheists that are hung up on the stories of Jesus---christian practitioners are, but you apparently don't understand that we atheists do not believe or practice any religion--christian, muslim, catholic, judeaism, buddhist, wiccans, sports fanatics, whatever religion being observed and practiced. I don't know that any of us fine people are offended by any mythology, whether it be greek, roman, english, or judea-christian mythology. Certainly the bible provides a lot of well documented history in its passages, but also has repeated and embellished a number of more ancient stories from older religions and civilizations that the old israelites adopted for their own use. Then we atheists consider much of the rest as being mythological, or based on made-up concepts and ideas. But that is our "belief" much as yours is your own. Too bad you are offended at our existence and our ability to not accept what you think is "right".

I'm not an atheists, but I am a non-Christian and it is most likely because comic book readers don't scream about Hell all the time. I'm sure no follower of Aphrodite jumped out at them from a booth in a mall trying to "save their souls".

The comic book publishers don't keep coming to my door to leave copies with me and wishing to discuss their stories...
Likewise, the authors and followers of Greek myth, who are long gone...

greek myths and comic books do not try to pass laws that jepordize the freedoms of everyone that is not of that paticular belief system..
look at the relationship between the Atheist and the Pagan. there is no problem there. they do not mind us because we are not trying to assymilate everybody into our belief system.

I'm only concerned with that which currently threatens common sense, logic and reason. That would be nearly every religion I have studied. Christ doesn't get a special place in my opinion. All religion is revolting to me.
