of course, do you really think all those college professors and business execs are happy? of course not, thats why they went to grad school in the first place; to make themselves feel better about themselves and make themselves think they are better than people who dont have grad school degrees.

Yes, I did. I have had clinical depression for 10 years. I graduated with my Masters in Mental Health Counseling with a 3.94 GPA, 1st in my class. I am now a mental health counselor and work at a hospice. I have to take good care of myself. I see a psychiatrist and if I feel I am starting to slide, I get help before It gets out of control. The best counselors have had some challenges in their life. I am a better counselor because I truly understand depression and can empathize. I do not share that with my patients but its true. In fact, I have been starting my PhD. Grad school is not hard as long as you like it. You do alot of writing though. Just keep on top of the depression, go to a counselor, and you will be ok. Trust me, I am not the brightest bulb and I did it. If I can do it, anyone can. Good luck, if you want more info feel free to write me

My mother suffered from depression for many years until she really got some help about the things that happened to her in the past. She went to grad school and holds a masters in religious education. She graduated magna *** laude. It is possible to get through it. I think that it's harder if you aren't getting treatment while you are in grad school. Don't overload yourself with classes and pace yourself. Take a break if you need it and strive to your achieve your dreams. Don't worry about other people. I am still trying to get through my undergrad. I'm having a rough time right now because I quit school and now I cannot seem to get back in. Anyway, you can do it!!

People who have depression have made many achievements. Depression is a treatable illness and requires care. To me, "suffers" implies not getting the treatment and taking care of oneself.
I have recurrent major depression and an master's degree. The depression came first. I do not suffer long unless I choose to.

Just ry focusing on your goals and really try to picture how you will feel when you graduate and get a well respected job. It's ok to be sad sometimes. There has been times in my life where I have been depressed, but I told myself that I didn't have to feel this way. At first it was hard to get out of the depression because is was almost like a part of me wanted to be depressed. I think our minds can get addicted to this feeling of being depressed. You just have to say that enough is enough!

well, I didn't make it. I have bipolar disorder, didn't know what was wrong at the time, just couldn't do it. But the bipolar is pretty bad, because I couldn't even hold down a half-time job at KMart and I'm now on disability. I was even working on NASA type stuff :-( It has been quite a loss to me, and a lot of shame. I grieved for 10 years over it.
With treatment, you will probably do better! Good luck!!

You don't need to suffer ongoing depression. There is treatment for it. Find out the cause, deal with it so that you can fully live your life. Depression can needlessly sap your life energy and impair your functioning.

Yep..depression is a treatable illness, just like diabetes or anything else. No reason why it should keep you from being successful.
