honestly from experience nothing works as well as a prescription drug, and many of them aren't much more than the better products at your local convenience store, however if you don't like that i'd recommend rotating 2 different face washes one with salicylic acid and one without (to avoid overdrying your skin resulting in more breakouts) . personally i use garnier pure and biotherm and its worked fairly well combined with a spot treatment with benzol peroxide

Try not to dry out your skin. Cetaphil or Spectro jel are pretty good because they don't change the pH level of your skin. Use a gentle toner that doesn't have alcohol in it (I use Dove cool Moisture) and I would go with a better cream and exfoliator. Yonka Creme 93 for combination and Gommage 305 are awesome.
No picking.. drink lots of water and try to relax as stress is a HUGE factor. Sometimes... it's just hormones in which case the pill can help.
Be thank full that you have some oil in your skin! We can laugh at all the wrinkly dry skin people when we're old.
ohh... and clean your make up brushes!!! with rubbing alcohol. put it in a spray bottle and spray them and wipe them on a kleenex you can spray your powdered makeup as well. More people need to do this.

I tried proactiv but for me, my skin got dry and didn't seem to improve after two months of using it. I called and they suggested another formula they have which is supposed to be gentler- but I decided to break down and go to the dermatologist. He put me on doxycycline ( an antibiotic) gave me clindamycin phosphate solution to put on followed by benziq- then i use differin gel at night- and although it seems like a lot of work , after a month and a half my face is looking great- i used to get the really bad zits that get like cysts under the skin and I don't have them anymore- also for any cysts you may already have, a dermatologist can give you an injection to shrink them away- it worked for me!!

It may not be the proactiv that is the problem. It may be the makeup you use after the proactiv. You need to find a light makeup that does not clog your pores and use only that. I suggest you use clear.now and the flawless foundation with the blemish control gel. It worked for me! You can find it at sblandino.qhealthbeauty.com

If ProActiv isn't working I would go to a dermatologist. You might benefit from a low dose of antibiotics or just need to try a prescription cream or lotion. Let a dermatologist look at your skin, I loooove my dermatologist.

I think proactiv is just your everyday scam. Just becuase they pay a few celebs to say it works does not mean it does. I have not know anyone to say that it has worked for them. I've known a few to try it.

omg a guy on here named rhino taught me this from one of my questions on acne, and it does work. i have a beautiful face now.
here's what you do:
1. first, you get a super super super hot washcloth of that superhot water and put it on your face for 5-10 seconds.
2. then, put the washcloth down and rinse your face with only freezing water.
3. you repeat steps 1 & 2 five or six times.
4. wash your face with lukewarm water using a simple antibacterial soap.
5. after you wash, soak up a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol and wipe your face with that.
6. this is not a joke: within six hours your face will have cleared up at least a little. most pimples will have shrunken.
7. it only took one week for my whole face to clear up. but i suggest you keep at it even after you're acnefree. i do this routine at least once a day. twice if i can.

i dont know...proactive is the only thing that has ever worked for me. but you have to keep using it. i stopped and all my acne came back. but if you want you could go to the doctor and if your acne is bad enough then they can give you acne medication. thats what i did because i couldn't find any thing that worked. but proactive is the only thing that helped and my ecne medication.

The same thing happened to me. It worked great for a while but now it isn't anymore. Maybe people's skin just gets used to it.
