I think there comes a time when all of a sudden we question magic, legends, popular fictional characters, BUT somehow we believe in a 'big serious god' just because even the 'adults' believe in him (it?).

In my particular case (I was raised catholic), I used to pin all the facts of my life in some way or another to 'god'... but then, god nonresponsive and nonacting and nonexisting, I decided to try and believe in myself instead and actually pursue things, pursue meaning in life and explanations to that which I did not understand.

By the time i had a good use of reason I knew that god cannot exist because he should be altering my life, and this is not the case! Science does, other people do, experiences and kindness do alter my life. But not god.

You see.. the concept of god had it's chance to change humanity. And what happened? We were stuck in the dark ages for centuries. So hey, let us move forward and find out what's really there, without resorting to imaginary people.

(Read my profile, as you may make an incorrect opinion about me, based on what I write.)

Alrighty then, let me make this first sentence the ice breaker.

#1: Anyways, yes of course I have thought what you think, who doesn't think of food etc.

#2: How do you even know I have a God... oh wait you were talking to christians... well I will answer anyways... How am I supposed to know why you proved to yourself that God does not exists?

#3: Only when you are in bed, or occasionally, specially if you are married, with another person.

#4: No, but I know quite a few atheists that are uneducated retards.

#5: I think that you proved to yourselves that God does not exist, and thus your mind set up a mathematical calculation where proof of God's non-existance is equal to x. So then x = what my brain thinks, and x = atheist, so using the transitive property of equality, you come to the conclusion that whay my brain thinks = atheist.

#6: Let me quote from Forest Gump - "That's all I have to say about that."

-Dominus-

P.S. #6 has nothing to do with #4, incase you were putting 2 and 2 together. LOL.

Okay, just to put the record straight, I am not a christian or an atheist. And yes, it is your choice, and it is free will, and although this will sound really mean to post this on here, I would like you all to know that although I respect all of your opinions, thoughts, and considerations, I would also like you to know that there is more out there than just a belief in christian God and a non-belief in christian God. So, I do apologize for doing this, but I think this is a poignantly phrased expression for atheists in "general." I highly stress the "general" part about it. I do not of any of you in this manner, although this author seems to think so. However, without further ado, I would like you to know why some people consider atheism to be bad.

"Atheists are more miserable and profane than even a blood-drinking Satanist. How so? Even the Satanist concedes to the metaphysical world, to the ontological soul. That atheists deny the Creationist’s Supreme-Creator, God, is not the measure of their ignorance, but that Atheism denies a substrate which underlies mere phenomena and the flux of materiality.
Creationists believe the complexity and beauty of the cosmos is the result of the will of a sentient being, supreme and before which nothing is,…this position is wrong. Worse still on a level immeasurable, is the position of the Atheist who thinks the complexity and entirety of the universe is the happenstance of cosmic flatulence, akin to apes on typewriters, given enough time, eventually producing Shakespearean plays.
Atheists are the most miserable lot that exists, they look for Subjectivity in the objective world of magnitude and measure and, not finding same therein, deny the Subjective spirit which is the basis for all metaphysics. Like the man who, walking outside his own house, and looking back in upon his window and declaring ‘nobody lives here’, or the child who looks for a signal inside the radio receiver, or for little-peoples ‘inside the television set’, the Atheist is possessed fully by agnosis, which in its fullness, is the praise of death, of mortality most miserable. Their alter is the body doomed to the grave, their prayer is for sensual pleasures as highest, their God is death. Their salvation from suffering is the desire for non-existence (vibhava) which could never come.”

#1 reason is John 6:65....your time to believe has not yet come...its appointed by G-d.

#2 reason could be your time has come but your heart was hard and full of pride.

#3 "we have proven to ourselves" is a very interesting statement. Do you suggest to other you have an "open mind"? Cause that statement right there is contrary. If all you do is ask others opinion who hold the same opinion, that is not research. That is throwing coal an an existing fire.

#4 you have not seen the miracles I have. If you had, you would believe.

You have a right to your opinion, but the main reason you don't believe in God, is because you and like the others are not 'open minded'. You are already set in your mind, by believing in something else.

I believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He is the Creator of this universe. If that wasn't so, how is it that this world is so perfectly set on its axle to where God has allowed it to have direct sunlight for all living things to grow? How is it that God has allowed the stars to create light for the night time? How is it that God has allowed a woman to have another living being grow inside the her for 9 months straight to which the embryo can still have the nutrition for it to grow with a heart beating, brain functioning, etc...how is it?

Atheists don't allow themselves to even 'think' because they put up a fence or a wall up that they cannot go beyond the wall. So all they believe is in themselves and nothing more.

No, the whole universe and world was not created by some big 'bang' that took place, which some believe. Creation was created by the Creator. The 3 Cs. That is my opinion, and I have learned that from my Creator.

I just think that you don't know who God truly is. You are unlearned to who He is, or you're afraid to hear the truth about who God is. You are either for Him or against Him.

From what I have seen atheists are just as passionate about not believing in God as I am for believing in Him. I don't think you're uneducated. I wonder if you have been burned by Christians before (as many have). I am not bitter towards non-believers, but I often feel that non-believers are bitter towards Christians in general. I do give you that many have good reason to be, but you can't base a whole religion on a few wrong followers.
But you also have to see that Christ followers have also proven it to themselves that He does exist. We are also educated and lots of times don't get respect for our decision either.

no, just unwilling to accept evidence. like you said, what is proven to you and what is proven to me are different. thing is, you say there is no God because "it sounds silly", or "there's not enough evidence" or "God doesn't seem to care about earth" or some other such nonsense. thing is, not all evidnce is tangible. some is theoretical.

like the universe and time itself having to be initiated; someone had to initiate it. or the remnants of Noahs Ark. or the Biblical accuracies of sciences and prophesies well before their time. or how narrow a chance there is that the universe could have been created by chance. or how narrow a chance it is that chaos and mistakes can bring about order and acceptible patterns.

so for me, I'm not going to miss evidence. if there's new evidence to support a theory, I look at it, and see what can be said for it, and against it before I believe it.

Bronze, believe me, I have tried to figure that out. I think some are afraid to, and some look at faith in whole and It does look
too good to be true, and things like where did God come from, the trinity, but first of all stop trying to not believe. God says His ways are not our ways, and things are beyond our comprehension. God is real, and if you'll open your mind, and pray that he will remove the Vail from your eyes that Satan has put there. I'll pray that He hears your prayer.

The reason why I think that atheists don't believe in God is because, you choose not to believe in God. It is 'Not' because you are lying or uneducated at all. Its just that you choose to not have the faith, and you choose to continue to live the lifestyle that you do. You do not want to give up the life of the world. And you are not ready to have faith in Jesus (God) and turn your lifestyle around yet.

I think that the god of this world (Satan) has blinded you to the necessity of accepting Christ's atoning death on the Cross for the forgiveness of your sins.

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Far from being uneducated, it's your education and flawed human wisdom that get in the way of your ability to understand the things of God. At some level, you must know that He exists, or you wouldn't spend so much time trying to justify your rebellion against Him.

Romans 1:21-22 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

And finally, I think you are making the biggest mistake of this life and the next by rejecting Christ as your Savior.

1Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Feel free to give me all the "thumbs-down" that you like. Just remember that you asked a question, and I gave you the answer from a Christian standpoint.
