That there are a lot of people out there in the world that a) Do not read the Bible, but assume certain things about it that are contrary to the actual truth inside it if they were to read it, b) Do not understand the basic laws of logic, c) Do not have any regard for any opinion except for those that support their own, and d) Do not spell check ever. All 4 of these observations completely baffle me, and make me feel like I am completely wasting my time on this site, especially the last one. It just boggles my mind that someone would dare not spell check when trying to create a logical argument. I'm sorry, but I just cannot take anyone serious who does not bother to use the spell check option that the Yahoo! Answers people have made so readily available for anyone who needs it. That is probably the one thing that has amazed me the most about this site. Oh well, welcome to the Internet I guess!

Sadly, the most significant thing I've learned here is that there are a whole LOT of "Christians" who are not at all like the loving, accepting, compassionate Christians I knew when I was growing up.
I've learned, in addition, that the public face of many Christians is a mask, because when they are here, anonymously, the venom comes out and the fangs are bared and they are revealed for what they *actually* are.
I just may have to leave the R&S section while I still retain *some* respect for Christians. I'm seriously thinking about it.
As it is, I have to keep saying to myself (and to my hubby) "They're not all like that"
The second most significant thing I've learned is that there are, suprisingly to me, atheists who feel just as justified butting in on conversations between Pagans to tell us that we're delusional as there are Christians who butt in to tell us were "really" worshipping the "devil".
And that saddens me. I had been under the impression, prior to my participation here, that atheists tried to be better than the Christians they criticize for butting into other people's spiritual lives.

That there are a lot of people who believe they know about God and his Son, Jesus Christ, that claim to be Christian, but they know nothing at all or what it means to be a true Christian, yet they won't accept help in understanding. And the ones who are true Christians and want to help them, they mock, persecute, and make up every sort of lie about, misleading others away from the truth into certain death. It's called the blind leading the blind so that both fall into the pit.

i am from Spain and i thought that in here christians (catholics) were the worst but since i am here i have learned that U.S christians are worse by far. At least the religious people in here, even though sometimes they can really be a pain, are not as absurd as some christians i read here in yahoo. In here, it is assumed by everyone that genesis story about adam and eve has not to be understood literally. Here evolution is not regarded as an antichristian idea, here people dont look for answers in the bible, as if it was a magical book...here catholics are intolerant and out of date but at least they are not so absurd as christians in U.S...When i read Stephen King´s Carrie, some years ago, i didnt know that there were so many Carrie´s mothers living in the U.S....ooops! sorry for the lenghth of my answer

That it produces a similar effect on the Psyche as a strong intoxicant would,in that social boundries, fear of confrontation,
many and diverse inhibitions, etc...all fall by the way side.
Many are hiding behind the cloak of a humorous avatar.
Not me though,I use a genuine photo of myself...Ok, I will come clean,(it was taken many years ago) I have aged.

I have learned that a bunch of people don't really care for other people's opinions. They post their belief, thumbs up people with similar beliefs (or give best answer), and usually thumbs down people that have a different view. I am not sure if they actually think about it or not, but it seems that they don't.

What i've learned most from this section is that people are very judgemental towards each other. Its obvious that people do not really want to ask each other question's but they would rather judge and bash each other's religion or who they are rather. And because of that its taught me who I shouldn't be in this section. The other thing that i've learned is that just because they say they are of one religion doesn't mean they are from that religion.

If I write an answer diplomatically, I'm less likely to polarize not only my view, but others' views of me. I get thumbs up for my tone, even if not my ideas.
That's the way to be, no matter what side of the ideological fence you're on!

EXCELLENT question.
Although my belief in God is still very strong, but I've actually become a little less "religious" and much more tolerant of others' beliefs. Once you see how absurd it is when people believe that only they're right and that God will send everyone else to hell, you realize that we have no option but to become less hateful and judgmental and more accepting of others if we want this world to go toward peace and love, which is what God wants for all of us. He never intended for his teachings to seperate us like this.

I've learned that there are a lot of ignorant people who hold a rather limited worldview.
But I've also learned that there are a lot more atheists in the world than I thought and that they are fighting the good fight.
