I get the impression that many non-believers feel that God should be like a genie in a bottle; if we ask for something, it must be given to us. Just because God doesn't answer our prayers in the way that we think he should doesn't make him evil or non-existent. We are here to serve God, it is not the other way around.

Ah, the dilemma of Christians and The Secret. I don't really see a conflict here - though I can see how those words can be misleading. We are here through divine purpose if you will and every religion talks of communicating with the creator, through prayer etc., to help achieve what we want in this life. Many branches of Christianity as well as other religions encourage the dialogue and interaction.

What The Secret is trying to tell us is that we are intentioning and praying all the time, not just when we mean to be. What we dwell upon in our hearts and in our minds most is what we get in our lives - that has been observed by this group as the way our relationship with the divine works. They have noticed that while we pray real hard on bended knee for what we want, we spend our lives repeating in our mind "I will never get what I want" and so we will never acheive what we want because we negatively pray about these issues much more than we positively do. Do you see?

These folks are not trying to say that God is at our beck and call. They are trying to show us that we have a disconnect in the system that keeps so many of us struggling and mired in our problems because we focus on the problems and not the desired outcome. We worry too much about how it will work instead of leaving the details to the Divine, as we should. We give in to our negative emotions and negative self images and create our own misery when we could instead be creating our own joy.

Peace!

naw, we know you are just mindless followers of an idolatric circumstance driven by the fear of hell and damnation. Because God doesn't answer your prayers in the way that he think he should doesn't make him evil or non-existent just inaccurate and sick minded.

first of what service would an omnipotent creator need?

what are we here for his amusement?

second I get the impression that you make a gross generalization that non-Christians= non-believers and that either group fits into your neat little box.
