Yes, you will probably get more financial aid as a single mom, and if you remarry they will take your husband's income into consideration as well, depending on how much he makes, it might not make that much of a difference. There are also single mother scholarships out there, you just have to research it on the web! Good Luck!

As a single mom that has had at least a little financial aid for years ... I can say as a single mom you will probably get the aid. However, if you remarry they will include your husband's income with yours and that may effect the aid you get.

It may be easier; it may not. Your marital status or single parent status does not affect how much aid you get.

Financial aid is calculated based on your EFC (expected family contribution), which is based on your assets and income as well as your dependents.

For example, if you have 4 children and made $20k last year and are unmarried, you will obviously receive a lot more aid than if you have 4 children and made $120k last year.

A husband may bring more money to the table, which would affect your aid.
