I am an athiest, and I am not the least bit afraid of death. I have heard it said that Athiesm seems to be bleak and depressing. I am not afraid to die, nor am I depressed. My life is not hopeless, etc. SO, ARE YOU AFRAID OF/ DO YOU DREAD DEATH?

I do not want to die a painful death either. I was asking if the prospect of Being Dead scares you?
I do not hate my life, and I have been on the verge of death. I Have been diagnosed with malignant systemic melanoma. AND, I lived though it....I have been told that I probably won't make it, and I still was not afraid of nothingness, or what would happen after I died. HOWEVER, I did not want to leave me loved ones.

Well, not afraid to die just how. I would hate a painful or traumtic death.
Only bad thing about dying is leaving my loved ones behind, and not seeing the end of theism and stupid religiousity.

I'm not afraid of death in the sense that I fear the so-called afterlife. I am afraid to die in the sense that I don't want to die a painful death. I also don't want to miss out on the rest of my life, or leave a grieving family behind. And besides, when I'm dead, it's not like I will conciously know, right?

As an Atheist, I fear death only because I understand that I will cease to exist after I die. However, I still have much to see in this world before that time comes. I would not let my fear of death intervene in my enjoyment of life. Taking deadly risks (skydiving, travelling the world, swimming with sharks, etc.) is part of that enjoyment, and if I let fear get in my way, I might as well be dead.

Of course I'm afraid of dying!!! I love my life! I want to keep it going for as long as possible!!!
I am lucky enough to have a fantastic life, death would be something of a major hiccup. Technically I'm Catholic, but I'm not sure how I feel about an after life and stuff and stuff just yet... In any case, afterlife or not, this life we have is great, and there is so much to do.
Dying sucks a.ss!

I don't see why being atheist should make any different about if you are afraid to die or not. Even if you are, we're all going to die sooner or later anyway, and no amount of worrying will change that.
Still, I'm not afraid to die in the least, I actually welcome it as a change from the monotony routine of life.
To counter these types of questions, I wonder if anyone has ever asked "Are you afraid to live?"

you will not die until knows the love of God, why you are afraid because you was made from the spirit of God is in you.
you say you not afraid this is a lye, I have been in in bed of the death by 5 times, outside reaching the salvation, you say that you are without fear so that never you have been on the verge of dying, you say I am not scared but I say to you that you are and your nights are sad and afraid ^

I am not afraid of dying, but I am not wanting to yet. I love living, so I am not ready to give that up. I read once that the very religious and hard core atheists face death the best.

I would have to say that I am not afraid of death, I wasn't alive for the last 14-15 billion years and that didn't bother me at all.

I am not afraid of dying. I am a happy jolly person, maybe it's because I'm not afraid of what's going to happen to me when I die. No "heaven" or "hell" worries for me, so I am way less stressed out about the decisions I make.

People who are not afraid to die HATE THEIR LIFE.
I have heard people say that constantly, they arent afraid to die. But sitting safe at home in front of your pc, thats not really all that hard to say now is it?
I personally love life too much to die. If death comes for me i will kick him in the neck and fight tooth and nail to stay alive.
AND theres always the slim possibility that the theists are right, and i am in no rush to burn for eternity :P
