remember when JPM drove jeff gordons car up at indy on the road course?he did not do so hot at first, and jeff gordon was worse in the F1 car of JPM.if i remember correctly gordon was 13 seconds slower in the F1 car than schumachers time there.
now if we were to put schume in a stock car either on an oval like atlanta or bristol or at the glenn how do u think he would do?do u think he will be competitive to nascars top drivers?

Some amazing comments! Do people not seem to realize that Michael Schumacher came up driving sports cars that required shifting? That he entered F1 in the era before paddle shifters? And that he has also done quite well in the Race Of Champions in recent years while driving cars that, yes, required manual shifting. Does anyone here actually drive cars and realize that shifting isn't that difficult of a thing to do? And that any driving reaching the upper levels of motorsport will be more than adequately skilled at this and all related techniques like heel-toe, etc. Or even that the HANS device was mandatory in F1 years before anyone in NASCAR even tried it?

But on to the question? Michael Schumacher has great car control, and has always proven an adept student as far as determining a good stategy for the situation. And he is extremely competive. This would all translate well into any race series, NASCAR included.

But that would probably only put him mid-pack. Some experience would move him up. He'd be an odds on favorite on most road courses, but that would hardly be enough to qualify as a real success in NASCAR. Though he would be competitive.

Real success would be determined alot by the team around him. While he is a great driver and brings alot of specific talents that helped him to his records, he had a great team around him that made this possible (and I personally think that some of these people leaving now played a large part in his deciding to retire rather than have to lead rebuilding key parts). So for him to move up towards being a real threat to win would require a fair amount of experience and the right people around him.

Though even then it could wind up being that some aspects would simply be elusive and he'd never move beyond being "solid."

There is no way, first of all he would have to get over the shock of seeing all the fans in the stands. Then the clutch, passing, pissing your pants because you are afraid someone might bump your car. There are an endless number of reasons why an F1 driver would not want to "Step Up" to NASCAR. And the fact that NASCAR is racing and not a Parade of cars wouldn't be to appealing. "Schmucker" will be at home watching NASCAR now and we all know it. (Side note): all these Farmula1 so called fans keep coming in here to bash NASCAR, I'm guessing their site must be as exciting as their racing. And do you think Schumacher would want to "step up" to NASCAR and embarrass the hell out of himself?

wow these people on here are complete fools. Michael schumacher has stated numerous time that he would NEVER have an desire to race on of those slow, piece of **** hick mobiles. As for the one idiot saying he would never take a step "up" to nascar- That remark just shows your level of ignorance. If you can honestly say with a straight face that nascar is somehow better than F1, maybe you should be in the mental help section. Seriously, you nascar fans are giving the rest of us SMART race fans a bad name. And why do you keep bringing up the fact that montoya came to nascar? the fact of the matter is he couldnt cut it in F1 anymore. He ran out of options, but continued to make good money. F1 has the highest salaries, BEST drivers, BIGGEST team budgets, and thank god no hillbilly fans like you retards. Im glad you dont like F1. Quite frankly if you people were into it, there would be a "viagra" chevy racing against the ferraris and BMWs. Please, just stay down south where you yokels belong

Montoya already provided Michael a significant volume of money to easily run laps in Cup, interior a 2d of the slow autos.. Michael did no longer respond.. Villeneuve regardless of the undeniable fact that has shown some genuine power interior the few races he's administered..

He certainly won't be worse than Montoya, and probably better. Schumacher is the real deal, he can drive a race car. I doubt, however, that he would consider NASCAR. He is a hero in Europe, doesn't need the money, and won't want to risk tarnishing his image.

no he would have to learn to drive the cars just like a cup driver would have to learn to drive the F1 cars i think once they got the feel of the car however both the f1 driver or the cup driver would do well in either series

As you can see, some of these drivers do well in qualifying because no one else is on the track. Then when the race gets here, they suck. They do not know how to drive in Nascar.

Not a chance. He wouldn't know what to do because he wouldn't be in front. I doubt he would get pole, so he would probably end up crashing or taking out half of the field because he threw a temper tantrum.

I hope to see that arrogant socialist "Hero" in a pine box before I see him in a NASCAR race car. That said ,Ray Evernham has left him an open offer to come and give it a try.His arrogance and general disdain for non-Aryans however will keep him strutting elsewhere.

His wrists are too limp to steer a 3400 lb car and shift a manual transmission..... no chance in NASCAR at all.
