Start with basic hatha yoga any yoga class you take will modify the poses to fit your level of comfort. yoga is never meant to be painful so if it hurts your doing something wrong or pushing yourself to hard. I recommend going to a live class before doing a video because you can get help from the instructor. I am proud of you yoga is an amazing thing to do for your body. It has so many health benefits doing yoga everyday just the basic posses give you better circulation, better posture, tones and lengthens your muscles, helps to maintain a lean body mass, it cleanses the body of toxins, supports a healthy heart, and gives you energy like a shot of espresso but has a more lasting effect. You are going to love it!!!

You should probably look in your area and find a yoga class to join. There are most likely several available at local gyms or even the local YMCA or YWCA. There is also a lot of information available on yoga poses as well as the various types of yoga online. You could even order tapes or DVDs.
However, since you have not done yoga before, trying the positions on tapes, DVDs, or the internet could be potentially dangerous. To start you should probably try a class with a certified instructor who can make sure you are performing the positions correctly. Performing some positions incorrectly can lead to injury. Theoretically you should also check with your doctor if you have any health conditions before going into yoga.
Yoga is a fun and awesome sport/relaxation technique. Good luck!

Yoga has a lot of things to do with strength and flexibility of ur body. The first thing u need to do before u do yoga is to get ur body used to stretching, balancing, and etc. You might want to get a Yoga dvd to see how it looks like and just to give ur self an idea of what ur going to do. However, there are different types of yoga, there are basic yoga, power yoga, and something else (I forgot) but these two are different. Basic yoga would be a good one for u to start because it's not that challenging and hard. Power yoga will give u a good result because it forces u to use all ur muscle strength and flexibility. Since, sounds you havent done it, I think you should go with basic Yoga. Any kind of exercise burns calorie and boost ur metabolism, so yeah Yoga is another answer to keep ur body healthy. Meditate after yoga is always recommended to do but some people are having a hard time to meditate but you should try it because it's good not only for ur body but also for ur mind. good luck!

Well, I just started yoga 6 weeks ago. I went to a local fitness center that offers a variety of activities. Yoga seems to be a good for all persons with differing fitness levels. Your instructor will direct you in the class. You will need a yoga mat (some centers have ones for your use). You will move at your own pace.
I'm finding that I need to work on my balance. So far, I like it. Talk with someone at a few fitness center and give it a whirl.

Yoga is much more than exercise - it connects the mind with the body through the breath. There are many different styles of yoga. Start with a gentle class. Find a good teacher at your local gym or Y.

i guess physical and emotional balance are the benefits of yoga practice. the body becomes quite healthy and the mind becomes quite accepting and peaceful.
try to find a credible yoga instructor and you might want to consider private classes initially. yoga knowledge is vast and deep but its all about being happy - both with yourself and with others.
