Most likely you will be practicing in sneakers, but jumping in meets in spikes.

For the long jump I think that there are special jumping shoes made, but they are probably fairly expensive. What is really important is to get some good heel cushioning. If you don't buy special shoes, make sure you get a "heel cup" to absorb the impact of your takeoff. If you don't, and you bruise your heel, you won't be able to jump as far.

For pole vault there is no similar need for heel cushioning. Pole vaulters want lightweight shoes. They need to run top speed down the runway. They are not slamming their takeoff foot like a long jumper does.
