I have never seen a bird loose all their feathers without having something wrong. They should only molt half of their feathers at a time. You will have to re-clip their wings after the feather have grown all the way back in.

Do not clip them while there is any pink or red to the vein of the feather, this will have a blood supply. If you clip one on accident, it will need to be pulled immediently or your bird could bleed to death. Instead, wait until it is white and then you know it is safe to cut. If you want to learn how, take the bird to your vet and have them teach you the proper way to clip.

Moulting varies depending on diet and environmental condition and age.The clipped wings may take a year or two to grow back. Some molt a little all year round.Keep your bird comfortable with warm baths of 2 inches or so and play with the water with your fingers and act happy. Since you are flock leader, the bird will learn how to act from you.Put your fid on a good pellet diet, limit seeds to 10% and add fresh fruits and veggies 10-20%. All seed diets lead to malnutrition. That way the molt whether partial or full can be less stressful. Have a great year.

Budgies dont lose all their feathers while Moulting, just a lot at once. You shouldnt see any bald spots or anything like that. A budgies wings will grow back just like hair...they are always growing..My budgies havent had their first moult yet, and they grow back and we clip them every month to a month and a half....if left alone long enough, they will grow back fully in a matter of no time~

There is such a thing as a "half" moult and a "full" moult.

this just refers to how much they moult and grow back. it is usually during the full moult that they drop their old "big" feathers, like tail and wing feathers, and grow in new ones. the half moult is usually smaller feathers like down.

you can't predict for certain when wing feathers will grow back, but you can just keep an eye out for moulted clipped feathers. when you see them dropped, then expect new feathers to come in soon.

I recommend you NOT clip your birds wings until you have a groomer or a vet show you exactly where to clip, and how many to clip.

if you do it badly or wrong, it can cause severe damage to your bird (due to imbalances, etc).
