nope, that would be inaccurate.... but they are right, yes they can report it, and then you have to dispute the facts of it, they must respond within 30 days or off it goes.

Yes it can, but you can get your credit report modified to show that you resolved it. See http://www.ftc.gov and navigate to the consumer pages relating to Fair Credit Reporting Act.

attempt disputing it with the credit bureaus first. If that would not artwork, deliver the lender a call for to validate debt and hopefully they gained't respond and it has bumped off then.
