Im going to La on Friday morning from the Amtrak routes. I'll be hitting LA around 9ish and i need to get to LA convention center. What would be the best way to get there besides Taxi?

I also need a route back on Saturday night at 11ish at night. Im not considering walking on SAturday night.

But is there any public transportation from LA's Union Station (amtrak) to Convention Center? Its my first time in La.

yes the transit system is pretty good, consider the
fact you can get a day pass for $3.00 and thats
valid until 3:00am the next day and good on all Metro operated
services..
as to get from Union station to the Convention
center one of your option is to take the Redline or Purple line
to 7th and Metro, then board the Blue line for 1 stop to the Pico station
and there are a zillion buses that will take from Union station
(some will depart from the transit plaza behind Union station
others will be across the street
at : CESAR CHAVEZ AV/VIGNES ST
I would suggest you board one of the routes
which start at the transit plaza
those routes are
444,445.446,447.439 (all will take you to near the convention center
cost will be $1.25
as for the return
its less buses
its been known that some operators will not pull into the transit plaza but only stop on the street after 11:00pm

I have to agree with "Copestir" on this one. It' only like 2 miles away, 3 at the most. Rather than try all that "take this bus to here, and transfer to that train there, and all that B.S." which can confuse an out of towner, just take a taxi. It will take you directly there, and directly back. You are DEFINITELY correct about you don't want to try walking back at 11:00 pm. You would go through some not so nice areas.

i lived in LA for the past two years and Union Station / Convention center are pretty close (miles away, but close) so I think your best bet would just be to take a taxi like you had mentioned. Check the mta.net (public transport wesbite) and there might be something. if youre hitting union station at 9 at night i wouldnt personally want to be waiting outside for a bus.

I think the Convention Center is across the street from the PICO station but I sure would not want to be down there trying to figure it out late at night.....

the common public transportation equipment, at the same time with it fairly is, won't supply for all your traveling desires. you fairly will come across a vehicle to be a need. in case you would be able to desire to holiday at 3 am, or to some out mendacity section for what ever reason, the common public transportation can not help you there, purely a vehicle will.
