It is extremely important to seek medical advice immediately if arsenic poisoning is suspected.

Chemical and synthetic methods are now used to treat arsenic poisoning. Dimercaprol or Succimer are chelating agents which sequester the arsenic away from blood proteins and are used in treating acute arsenic poisoning. The most important side effect is hypertension. Dimercaprol is considerably more toxic than succimer.[1]

One way to test for arsenic poisoning is by checking hair follicles. If arsenic is within the bloodstream, it will enter hair and remain there for many years.

Pretty much like what the first person quoted. Basically, they give you medicine that attracts the arsenic to it so it can be flushed out of the system. Not hard to diagnose, but not one of the first things tested for. Do you think someone is poisoning you?? I was once saw a show on discovery where a couple was building their dream house and wife kept getting sick. Hubby kept taking her to ER, doctors couldn't figure it out. Each time sicker and sicker. Finally someone thought it might be arsenic, test came back positive. Suspected hubby, then hubby started getting sick, too. Called in some high profile person who knew alot about it and discovered the lumber they were using was treated with arsenic to repell water. They cut the lumber in an inclosed area and were inhaling the sawdust when cutting it. To make long story short, wife was sick first because smaller than hubby and they lived happily ever after except if i remember correctly, their medical bills were astronomical and had to sell the house because they could no longer afford it. No joke.
