Timing is everything, but not in drawing the beer. Guinness is a very temperamental beer and has to be treated with the greatest of care. The age of the barrel is the most important factor. Guinness has to be tapped at just the right moment and all of its contents used quickly or it will turn sour. When an Irishman pushes his glass away and remarks, "This isn't a proper pint," he's referring to the beer having gone sour, not the thickness of head foam.

I had a pub for 4 years and I pulled Guiness the same as any other draught beer and had no complaints

Possibly an eternity as I have yet to meet a pint of guinness with any sexual preference or indeed the ability to communicate on a verbal level, but I don't see why you can't try. Let me know how it goes OK?

Good things take time, thats what I tell my tables while they wait for their Guiness... I don't drink it but I like to look at it while it settles.

fill glass 3/4 wait for 3 min then you can draw in it while pouring and you have a perfect guinness

It takes a slong as it takes. Guinness is such a great beer, that I give it the time it needs. I always let mine settle, of the bartender doesn't. Great things take time...

119.5 seconds and should be pulled in two parts.Pull 3/4 of a glass, allow to settle, then top up.
