i would use a thumbdrive or burn a cd.
you shouldn't need to copy all of your programs to disk, just the irreplaceable data. what i would do is decide which folders your important data is in and do this.

(in Windows XP)
START>search>files and folders, search for all files and folders
and put the line below into the what to search for:
*.DOC;*.XLS;*.MDB;*.JPG;*.PDF
those are extensions of my most important files, yours may be different

once you have the long list, either CTRL+A to select them all or CTRL+click on each file you want to save and CTRL+C to copy them to the clipboard.

now go to My Computer, open the CD or thumbdrive you want to save them to and CTRL+V to copy them
