It's one of the easiest careers to get in to. Btw, you don't necessarily need college depending on what you want to do in the police force.

The main thing is to have a good driving record and no criminal offenses on your record...

Most departments today require at least an associates degree in criminal justice or a related field, while many now want you to have a bachelor degree. You can't just go to a police academy on your own. You have to have a sponsoring agency. Do you have a specific agency you have in mind? The best way to find out the requirements is to go to that department website and get the specifics on the educational and physical requirements , including the obstacle course, which is what I think you mean. You may also want to find out, again if you have a specific agency in mind, if they have a reserve or special police officer program that you can join. Many departments hire their full time regular officers from these programs. Good luck!

A college degree holder has no problem in becoming a cop by just passing the entrance exams and hurdling the sit-ups, push-ups and other physical training.

First and most importanly ask yourself why do you want to be a cop,Police work is not for everybody, Are you capable of taking a life, are you capable of pulling mangled dead bodies out of car wrecks, do you want to work in all kinds of weather at all hours of the day and night. Do you want to have a normal family life. Believe me police work is nothing like TV. It will age you, scare you depress you and make you a cynical SOB. If you say you want to help people and make the world a better place, forget it because you are a dreamer.
