He's right, you're not making much sense, but let me try to understand this.
So I take it you want to go out with some guy who isn't very physically attractive. Okay, so what? If you like him for his personality than by all means go out with him.
And about your issue with "other people will think I'm weird if I go out with him", are you really going to let other people decide FOR YOU who you can date and who you cannot? If your answer is yes to that question then maybe you have a bigger problem than you're considering.
