Your local volunteer centers and United Way locations can connect you with various local non-profit organizations through their web sites or office directories. Here are some links to help you get started:

http://www.handsonnetwork.org/our-network/
http://www.pointsoflight.org/centers/find_center.cfm
http://national.unitedway.org

It would help if we knew what kinds of nonprofits and what geographic areas you are looking for. Meanwhile I'll suggest some and maybe you'll like them.

www.secondharvest,org Second Harvest helps get food to poor people. This site also gives links to local nonprofits in many areas.

www.oneworldhealth.org new nonprofit that provides drugs to ppl in 3rd world countries free or very inexpensively

http://.national.unitedway.org This will also give links to local United Way organizations which will give links to their nonprofit members

www.redcross.org

www.foundationcenter.org - Foundation center is a nonprofit organization that helps ther nonprofits get info about money available for their causes and helps them to connect to Foundations which are nonprofit organizations that exist for the purpose of giving away money to other nonprofits so you can find a lot of other nonprofits through their site.

Churches are usually also nonprofit orgaizations for example www.themissionarychurchinternational.org which is similar to a denomination but also has a number of other nonprofits under it's group exemption (nonprofit status gotten by being a member of that group)

Not all nonprofits are big and national and international in scope. Look in your yellow pages under Social Service organizations, schools and Hspitals and you'll find that some tho not all of them are nonprofits and all will send you info about themselves if you call them. Your local little league is a nonprofit too.

A couple of examples of smaller local nonprofits are http://caringhandsmin.tripod.com and http://lampga.tripod.com

You can find a lot of others at www.acton.org/cec/guide This is the website of the Acton Institute, a nonprofit organization that itself that rates otehr nonprofits on things like how effectiove they are, how wisely they spend and raise money, how much good they do. The guide is a list of nonprofits in just about every state and their ratings,

At www.altavista.com you can click aqdvanced search and specify nonprofit organization and then the type of thing you want to find an organization doing and the location you want to check on.

Do you mean non-profit or non-profitable? There's a big difference.
